Southern Californian singer/songwriter Marianne Keith is launching her U.S. national tour opening for Josh Hoge on June 3 in Lexington, Ky. The tour will promote Keith’s latest album “Cathartic,” which debuted on March 30 earlier this year. “Cathartic” tells the story of someone’s distress after love has gone sour, intimately told from Keith’s own experiences.
According to Keith’s official MySpace page, her influences range from Carole King to John Mayer to The Beatles to Hanson. She has been performing since childhood in church choirs and school bands and wherever she could get a gig around her hometown of Redlands, Calif.
With definitive roots in pop music in regards to her musical sound, Keith also writes her own music and has been quoted as saying, “The most important job of a songwriter is to speak for people who can’t. To put those emotions into words that everyone feels, but they just don’t know how to say it. When a song represents your feelings better than you can express them yourself, then music has done its job.”
Keith has been steadily playing shows at Los Angeles’ own Piano Bar every Thursday, but is leaving that mainstay behind for her summer tour opening for indie rocker Josh Hoge. The second single, “Everyone Warned Me” hit the Hot AC radio on June 1, and the video will debut later this month.
