A Rosé by Any Other Name would Smell as Sweet
Every Wednesday night this summer from 6 – 9 pm, Maison 140 offers “Vin et Fromage” wine and cheese tasting series.  For a mere $35 a person, they are showcasing three different French Rosés expertly paired with a charcuterie plate, fresh fruits and artesian cheeses like a Spanish goat cheese, a rosemary encrusted French sheep’s milk cheese and a sensuously creamy French cow cheese.

Available through the end of August, here’s what wines you’ll enjoy tasting while schmoozing with the crème de la crème of world travelers and Los Angelenos at Maison 140 Beverly Hills:

Jaboulet—Côtes du Rhône „Parallèle 45‟ Rosé 2008
With floral and crushed red cherry aromas, the wine shows full-bodied, rope, mineral- driven fruit on the palate, with tangy undertones and a note of white pepper

Whispering Angel—Côtes de Provence Rosé 2007
“There’s a crystal clarity to the berry and cherry flavors. Powerful, almost tannic, with plenty of mineral and spice notes. The long finish lingers with white pepper and wisps of red peach.”—Wine Spectator

Sauvion—Loire Valley Rosé D‟Anjou 2008
This fresh, fruity, and generous wine boasts peach, cherry, and strawberry aromas

Sexy, Intimate Imbibing

Bar Noir in the Maison 140 lobby is an intimate and unique neighborhood lounge where both the atmosphere and cocktails infuse with exotic flavor. When you enter, an Absinthe dispensary awaits your exploration. Clad in a rich palette of crimson, black, and white, Bar Noir features a mix of custom-designed elements by interior designer Kelly Wearstler, as well as Parisian antiques and 1970s touches. Chic slipper chairs in black and white create the perfect hideaway for candlelight conversations and informal gatherings to enjoy a pre-dinner drink before heading out on the town. The richly appointed décor includes lacquered wall panels of mirrored Chinoiserie and caning, French crystal chandeliers, and Lucite barstools.

LA’s Best Kept Boutique Hotel
Old-world Asian influences meet contemporary Parisian delights at Maison 140 Beverly Hills. This quaint boutique hotel’s striking décor transports guests to an old Left Bank inn, yet ceaselessly intrigues with inflections of Eastern mystique. The hotel’s classic brick façade, complete with dormers, potted topiaries and signature red-lacquered doors, serves as a warm respite from bustling Beverly Hills. Each of the 43 guestrooms is a unique creation unto itself, with one-of-a-kind antiques, custom furniture and Italian linens. Thick, rich mohair throws drape the occasional Louis XVI chair for the regal feeling of a cozy home. Original artwork by Joshua Elias was commissioned for each room. The intimate Bar Noir is a stylish meeting spot for hotel guests and Beverly Hills locals alike, in a palette of black, white and crimson, custom-designed elements and Parisian antiques.
