On January 19, 2009 famous celebrity icons such as Aaron Eckhart, Alyssa Milano, Paris Hilton, Anthony Kiedis, Archie Kao, Ashlee Simpson, Brittany Snow, Bryce Dallas Howard, Courteney Cox, Dakota Fanning, David Arquette, Eva Longoria, Eva Mendes, and George Lopez all elected to show their support of the newly elected President Barak Obama by recording a pledge of service in honor of the Inauguration. The videos, presented by Myspace Celebrity and Katalyst Media, an innovative content production company Ashton Kutchercreated by Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg, both document moving portrayals of how each celebrity intends to assist in the countrywide change that was so pivotal in Obama’s campaign and expresses personal, emotive, and sometimes humorous ways in which the entertainment world plans to give back.

As many more prominent industry names such as Gina Gershon, Hart Bochner, Hayden Panetierre, Hill Harper, Nick Cannon, Ioan Gruffudd, Jaime Pressley, Jason Bateman, Jenna Elfman, Joel Madden, Joel Schumacher, John Singleton, Josh Groban, Julia Ormond, Kat Dennings, Kenna, Kerry Washington, Kevin Connolly, Kevin Zegers, Laura Linney, Lucy Liu, Marissa Tomei, Matt Dallas, Melissa Leo, Michael Strahan, and Michelle Trachtenberg enlisted to be a part of the production, Ashton Kutcher proudly proclaimed, “We are honored to be working with MySpace to rally the entertainment industry to answer President-elect Barack Obama’s call to service”. He then added, “The Presidential Pledge is a platform for people across the nation and throughout the world to make a first person commitment of service to our new President, articulating a specific intent or action to become an agent of positive change”.

With Demi Moore serving as director, the videos are nothing short of inspirational, which is exactly as both Moore and Katalyst Media intended. They hope that through the public presentation of the videos through MySpace Celebrity, others will be motivated to post a comment or record and upload their own Presidential Pledge on MySpace to join the heartfelt videos from Molly Sims, Nicole Richie, Rex Lee, Rhona Mitra, Rita Wilson, Rumer Willis, Sarah Wayne Callies, Sean P. “Diddy” Combs, Ashley Judd, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Soleil Moon Frye, Sophia Bush, Tatyana Ali, and Tobey Maguire.

Myspace users can join in on the movement by uploading their pledge videos using the following instructions:

Use your computer camera to record your own pledge. Upload the video to your profile, then copy the embedded code that is provided. Go to www.myspace.com/presidentialpledge and head to the “Comments” section, towards the bottom of the page. Click on “Add comment” and paste the embed code in the space provided.
