Brittany Burton: Princess of Music TV

Not too many girls look like they were destined to be stars. Fresh-faced Brittany Burton looks like she was put on earth to be famous. A singer/songwriter/actress with inspirations such as Brandy, Prince and Stevie Wonder, Brittany has fine-tuned her singing skills by working with various vocal coaches, participating in talent shows and acting in school plays. Her dedication and hard work paid off on her sixteen birthday. Her parents noticed her talent and drive, and as a gift, bought her studio time at a local studio. It was then that she recorded her first set of demos, which landed in the hands of A&R at Virgin Records. They liked what they heard and soon after, she flew out to Los Angeles to meet with producers, and began her adventure toward stardom.

Now, Brittany is working with top music producers and acting coaches to launch her music career. She has a project in the works with a Grammy-award winning producer for an all-girl singing group and she also works on a priority music project with top music producer Jeff Blue (Macy Gray, Lincoln Park).

More prominently, she is also the host of Beta Records TV, a brand new half-hour weekly television program that shows a mix of live performances, music news, interviews and product reviews. A two-year, 52-episode commitment has been made for BETA Records TV, with each 30-minute show providing content that is instructional, educational and entertaining. The show is set to air in over 140 U.S. television markets, including the Top 15.

Even with her busy schedule, not taking anything she has been given for granted, Brittany reaches out to the community with a Christian Organization called “Red Eye.” This non-profit organization is dedicated to preserving society’s youth. “We go out into Hollywood and try to make a positive influence on all the lost souls.”

LATP: Tell us more about Beta Records TV and your role as the host.

BB: As host for Beta Records my role is very extensive when it comes to the interviewing process. I am urged to research whatever it is I am going to be reporting on the next day, and I am also supposed to prepare types of questions as a go-to if I run out of things to talk about with the person I am interviewing. One other thing I think is pretty cool is that I am allowed to comment on content and give my input on what future shows should be about.  I have really been learning a lot, but one of the things I live most about being a host is all the great people I have meet and it is really just my job to talk and learn more about them! What could be more fun?!

LATP: You have a budding music career; can you tell us more about what you have in the works?

BB: I actually do have a lot of things in the works right now.  I have currently been working on a girl group with a Grammy-award winning producer, which has been amazing to work with.  Also working with Jeff Blue who is great… There are a few other projects in the wings, but I have to keep those under wraps!

LATP: Does your music career inspire your fashion sense?

BB: My music career 100% inspires my fashion sense.  It actually has become a little crazy because the more into my music career I have gotten the more I have noticed my style change.  I grew up in the Midwest, and not to say I didn’t have style, but fashion wasn’t one of my main focuses back home.  However, since I have been developing myself as an artist I have also been developing my fashion sense.  Even when I go into the studio I always make sure I like my outfit (weird I know), but it helps my performance it is like connecting my identity to my voice.  I would say just like my music and tone my style is fun, hipster, pop rock!

LATP: Who is your fashion icon?

BB: My own personal fashion icon is Gwen Stefani! She is constantly recreating her look, and she is sexy without being distasteful.  She always shows just the right amount, and I just love how classic she looks but puts her own modern twist.  I also hope further down the road in my career to emulate her by releasing my own clothing and fragrance line.

LATP: Being a young woman in the music scene, who do you think are the hottest artists for 2009?

BB: Wow! That is a tough one! But here is my shortlist:
Katy Perry… she has had a breakthrough year and was really able to cultivate her own sound, which for her will lead to longevity!
Taylor Swift… She is just about to reach the peak or one of the peaks in her career, she is an incredibly talented girl and I think she is going to have a good year!
Metro Station… I think they just skimmed the surface with their hit single “Shake It”, but I think we are going to be seeing a lot more of them this year!

Catch Brittany on Beta Records TV on KCAL and www.betarecordstv.com airing nationally November 2008 and stay tuned for new on her budding music career.
