Rock stars, actors and other celebrities are joining hosts, actress Holly Robinson Peete and NFL legend Rodney Peete, to raise awareness for autism at Lucky Strikes Lanes in Hollywood.
In the first fundraising event for VH1 Classic’s Rock, guests will take part in a live bowl-off with their favorite rock stars, while also bidding at an auction to jam with their favorite rock stars on Rock Band video game, all while hopefully garnering national press and participation from important figures in the autism community as well as the entertainment community.
Casey Connor will the celebrity guest DJ and is sure to entertain as guests dance and enjoy the open bar service as well as heavy hor d’oeuvres.
The event will be tied into the upcoming VH1 Special, 100 Greatest Songs of Hard Rock, with proceeds being shared between 3 autism organizations: ACT Today!, HollyRod4Kids, and Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism.
ACT Today!
As a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, ACT Today! (Autism Care and Treatment Today!) helps greatly by providing funding for immediate, emergency and ongoing services and treatments to everyone: children, adolescents and adults with autism. In addition, ACT Today! Strives to increase access to Autism treatments including Applied Behavior Analysis, Therapeutic, and Biomedical programs and treatments. They facilitate early treatments and on-going treatments by providing resources that can include guidance, referrals and even funding and follow ups to anyone with ASDs and their families. HollyRod4Kids
HollyRod4Kids strives to globally ameliorate the quality of life for children that have been negatively impacted by circumstances that they can’t control, including disease, famine and natural disasters. They also raise funds to help kids who have Autism and give them access to important treatments and therapies.
The Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism
This foundation works to promote awareness and support families that have been affected by autism spectrum disorders. They help families financially, while also funding education and research into the causes and consequences of childhood autism. The event will take place on November 13, 2008 from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. at Lucky Strike Lanes at 6801 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood.
