Everything and everyone in LA seems to be famous, but not many things are more notorious than the Sunset Strip. Known for its rich music history, The Strip has been home to music lovers and rock venues for generations – that is why the famous clubs that live on Sunset are coming together on June 26-28, 2008 to promote the first annual SUNSET Strip Music Festival.
The Roxy Theatre, Whisky A-Go-Go, House of Blues, Viper Room, Key Club, and the Cat Club are uniting with the City of West Hollywood, and the Sunset Strip Business Association to promote the three-day music festival that is expected to draw more than 9,000 fans, VIPs and music industry leaders to the 1.3-mile stretch of history.
A celebrity kick off event will start the ball rolling at 8 pm on Thursday, June 26th at the House of Blues. Sugar Ray front man and Extra host Mark McGrath will emcee the special opening night party that will pay tribute to the Godfathers of the Sunset Strip – Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri, and Elmer Valentine. Performances by Everclear, Soul Asylum, and Camper Van Beethoven will finish off the evening.
Friday and Saturday will have some of today’s hottest artists playing at each of the clubs well into the wee hours of the night. The list of musical acts consist of: B Real of Cypress Hill featuring Slash and special guests, Camper Van Beethoven, Dilated Peoples, Everclear, Godhead, Hellogoodbye, Hot Hot Heat, Juliette and The Licks, L.A. Guns featuring Jani Lane of Warrant, Louis XIV, Soul Asylum, The Shys, Mickey Avalon, and The 88 with more artists still joining in!
Before the final acts on Saturday, there will be an exclusive panel at the brand new London West Hollywood Hotel where CNN’s renowned Larry King will interview Adler, Maglieri, and Valentine in an “Icon Roundtable” discussion in front of music legends and industry experts.
