Typically a consultation takes around twenty minutes to half an hour. Elise gives the perfect example of why this is a necessity, “A lot of people will be doing Restylane or Juvederm, and then the next day they have a photofacial. They have just melted away their Restylane or the Juvederm because nobody told them the proper order to get the most out of their treatments. Procedures need to be done in a planned and methodical way. You need to have fillers like Restylane or Juvéderm sit in somebody’s skin for at least two to three weeks before you do a treatment with a heating element.”
Another common procedure is skin-tightening. Dana Elise informed me of the different technologies and machines that are out there for this process. ReFirme is the particular machine that is used at Laser Solutions. It uses the radio frequencies used in the Thermage as well as the infrared light used in Titan (which are two other commonly used machines used for skin-tightening). ReFirme combines those two modalities so that the treatment yields better results and has a better safety profile.
After using ReFirme a number of times, Elise says, “I found that the ReFirme doesn’t just tighten the skin, it also helps with texture. As we get older and have sun damage, areas like our chest start to get crinkly, and ReFirme smoothes out that skin on the chest, or the neck and the face. It’s great for acne scarring, fine lines and building collagen from the inside out. We have used it for people who have gained and lost weight rapidly, for people who have had pregnancies, and we’ve had some good results with it. On the face, neck, arms, chest, underarms, hands… it’s fantastic”.

Laser Solutions also uses the ReFirme technology to do a series of hand treatments. “We do a hand ‘facial’, microdermabrasion, and IPL photorejuvenation to take off any brown spots, and a series of 3 – 5 times ReFirme sessions. For women who have very vein-y hands, my Medical Director Dr. Cadoux will do sclerotherapy on the hands. What he does is inject these large veins and flatten them out so you don’t have that raised vein-y look that really ages hands”.
