Born in Europe, trained in Melbourne and apprenticed with the Pariasian color god, Alexander De Paris, Matthew G. has a worldly perspective on color. He has graced prestigious salons across the world, including Prive and John Frieda. But the best news is, now he’s right here in Los Angeles – and quickly becoming one of the most influential stylists in town.
The fifth location of the Edward Tricomi and Joel Warren salon, Warren-Tricomi, is now located in West Hollywood and Matthew G is proud to be part of their ground-breaking team. Tricomi and Warren started the salon in New York and were inducted into the high fashion world by no less than the editor of Vogue, Polly Mellon. Now Tricomi is a regular contributor to Vogue as well as influencing designer collections at New York City’s Fashion Week, while Warren dresses the tresses of big names like Ivanka Trump, Paulina Porizkova, Kate Beckinsale, and Jessica Alba. Thus, Matthew G is a perfect addition to their team at Warren-Traicomi as he too takes his work as a colourist to a whole new level.
Indeed, with Matthew, the colouring experience is a transformative process. He believes in developing a genuine repoir with clients, not just plopping you into a chair and dousing you with the latest trend. Instead, in true European fashion, Matthew wants to get to know you first, as he believes that in order to deliver a colour that is right for his client he must first truly understand them. This way, Matthew can get a better idea of the lifestyle and desired look that would work best for his client.
Seeing as Matthew has influenced top fashion authorities throughout the years, it seems his concentrated, high-caliber couloring techniques really work. When it was time to film Spider Man, Kirsten Dunst turned to Matthew for her sexy, strawberry tresses and The New York Post reported that Britney Spears’ mom, dad and sister all had their hair dyed chocolate brown by Matthew before Britney’s wedding to Kevin Federline. Matthew has appeared on shows such as “the Tyra Banks show” and “America’s next top model”, as well as “Extra” where he made over Karina Smirnoff from Dancing with the Stars”. Fashion Magazines like INstyle also love Matthew’s advice and you can read his encouragement to try something new, like a “sun kissed look for the winter months” or a “spike” of blond to highlight dark bangs.
With over 17 years of experience in his field and training from the top fashion institutions in the world, we’re lucky to have Matthew with us at Warren-Traicomi in LA. Visiting Matthew, you’re not just in for a top-notch style, but also some good, clean, and colorful, fun!
