D. WoodsDanity Kane, the hot Pop/Hip-Hop group from MTV’s number one show, "Making the Band", is dropping their new album on April 18th and miss Wanita “D.WOODS” Woodgett is ready to break open the hip-hop scene all on her own. All set for a huge media tour, D. Woods is quickly becoming the new face of the popular LRG’s women’s fashion line, Luxirie, while also keeping it real at the Boys and Girls Club in Chicago where she teaches girls how to dance for “Project Girls Club.”

Miss Wanita Woodget, better known as “D. Woods” has slammed onto our radar after Danity Kane’s sophomore album, “Welcome to the Dollhouse”, made the band the first female group in Billboard chart history to have both debut and sophomore albums enter the main album chart at #1. With sales of 236,000, the R&B/Pop band album became the largest debut from any female group in any genre since the Dixie Chicks.

After this kind of explosive, chart-topping action, Ms. Woods is indeed ready to take the entertainment world by storm.  As a triple threat vocalist, songwriter and actress, (Woods has been seen in “Stomp the Yard", the video for Lloyd’s hit single, “You”, and has appeared with Danity Kane on Regis & Kelly, The Today Show, and The Tyra Banks Show) we’ll no doubt be seeing her soon rocking the mic, the stage, or the silver screen – but probably all three!D. Woods and Danity Kane

D. Woods in Lux ClothingAnd while all of this may seem like a whirlwind of good luck for Woods, a look into her past shows that this young talent has certainly put in her time.  She discovered her love for the performing arts early on in Springfield, MA, and attended the Tri-Cities Magnet High School for Visual and Performing Arts in Atlanta, Georgia. She went on to study at the prestigious Tisch School of Arts at NYU in New York City. Trained extensively in voice, acting, and all genres of dance including ballet, modern, hip-hop and even West African, Woods has performed in theatre productions off-Broadway as well as toured as a dancer with major recording artists.

And what is really fresh about D. Woods is that she knows how to be a diva without the obnoxious attitude. In fact,  as one of the founding members of “The Girls Club”, a group which is defined as an association of females within the entertainment industry who promote positive relationships and collaborations between various professional females, Woods aims at fostering a sense of community and support among women songwriters, choreographers, actresses and recording artists.  Check out "The Girl’s Club’s" first mixtape called “The Girls Club Vol. 1”, which features Mya (Universal), Chrisette Michelle (Def Jam), Danity Kane (Bad Boy.WEA) and Kelis (Jive).  Exciting stuff!
