Young musicians (ages 10 – 18) will be featured soloists as they perform the music of Carlos Santana, Jay-Z, U2, Freddie Hubbanrd and TJ Stafford, among others, at String Project Los Angeles’ Fall ASG Concert.

Taking place on January 13, 2008 at the Helms Jazz Bakery in Culver City, this performance concludes the Fall 2007 ASG session.

SPLA, founded by Robert Anderson and Jacob Szekely,  was created to give young, classically trained string players their own approach to music, offering a new approach to string education based in improvisation.

SPLA is currently only school in Southern California that is dedicated to teaching violinists, violists and cellists the fundamental techniques of improvisation while the young musicians perform various styles of music that aren’t in their traditional repertoire.

The ASG Concert takes place at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday January 13, 2008 at the Jazz Bakery, located at 3233 Helms Ave. in Los Angeles.

Tickets are $10 for students under 21 and $25 for adults. For more information or to make reservations, visit www.jazzbakery.com or call (310) 271 – 9039.
