Kirsten Corcoran from Larenim sat down with LA’s the Place to discuss the benefits of her mineral makeup line that includes Invis-Pore, as well other products aimed at acne, oil and sensitive prone skin.
LATP: Why did you decide do develop a mineral make up line instead of just another cosmetic?
Kirsten Corcoran: I wanted to develop a cosmetic line would fit my ideal of "natural beauty" I wanted to develop a line of makeup that actually improves your skin every time you wear it and feels comfortable on.
LATP: How does Larenim compare to the bigger mineral make brands, and do you feel there’s a lot pressure to keep up with them?
KC: I believe that Larenim simply looks the best on and in many cases feels the best on. Larenim is also very particular about what form of minerals we use. For instance, we will not use nano particle sized minerals because they might be unsafe. We also will not use fillers such as starch or known toxins such as parabens.
LATP: If you could pick 3 or 4 Larenim must haves for your make up bag, what would they be?
KC: Our Mineral Airbrush pressed foundation, the Mineral Silk, the Dusk Til Dawn, and our Softer Than Sable vegan kabuki.
LATP: How you know or decide what type of product to develop next? What will we see over the six months from Larenim?
KC: I try to fill in the gaps of what we don’t already have and work on what our customers are asking for. We are about to introduce a vegan mineral mascara that I’m extremely proud of and I am working on a lip colour line, a facial masque, and a facial spritz.
LATP: What are your top 5 tips for applying make up?
KC: Use good lighting, a good mirror, the most appropriate tools, a steady hand, and try to look at yourself objectively when you are selecting your colors and applying. Squint if you have to!
LATP: It’s almost winter, what are a few tips for applying make up when your skin may be dryer, or should be change the shade of our foundations, bronzers etc?
KC: Try to keep your skin exfoliated so that you’re not applying makeup onto flakey skin. Mist over your makeup through out the day as needed to keep your skin hydrated.
When your skin has lost its tan, adjust your makeup shade accordingly but keep in mind that adding a touch of warmth to your face with a bronzer can be very flattering.
LATP: Everyone has there own personal style but what would say the trend is for Fall/Winter as far as colors/looks?
KC: I’m seeing a combination of both jewel tones such as purples and greens and conservative matte tones such as beige and grey. Of course going into the holidays there will be lots of glitter!
LATP: What else would you like to share about Larenim that you feel is important for consumers today?
KC: I receive so much positive feedback form Larenim consumers that they are so happy to finally have a makeup line that not only truly pampers their acne, oily, sensitive skin and/ or eyes but is truly gorgeous and fashionable too. I just want to continue to spread the word that women do not have to make a lot of sacrifices with the cosmetics they wear, be they high end department store or traditional "natural" makeup.
I want them to know that Larenim is the real deal and the best of all worlds.
