DAY 12: Departure
I was bound and determined to see the Sistine Chapel before I left Rome so we got up at 6 am and took the train into the city. We ended up getting on the train with all the stops however, so it took us 2 hours to get to St. Peter’s and by that time it was too late to try to get in before our flight left. At 10 minutes of 9 there was a 3 hour line to get in and we only had half an hour before we HAD to get back on the train or we’d miss our flight. We had no choice but to turn around and go right back to the hotel. I was disappointed that I didn’t get to see the Sistine Chapel but I take comfort in knowing that I did everything in my power to try to get in before I left. It just didn’t work out.

The flight home was exhausting, as was the first one, and we were jet lagged for about a week afterwards. The trip, of course, was totally worth it though. It was the vacation of a life time and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have landed this amazing opportunity.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks to RSVP for not only inviting me aboard their Mediterranean Odyssey but also for providing such great entertainment and making sure that all of their passengers had the time of their lives. I couldn’t have asked for better hosts on this voyage. I would also like to thank the crew of Holland America for their incredible hospitality and L.A.’s the Place Magazine who got me this gig in the first place… THANK YOU!!
