RSVP Mediterranean Odyssey Day Four: Corfu, Greece

DAY 4: Corfu, Greece

This was one of the few days we had booked a shore excursion (if you’ve never been on a cruise before, a shore excursion is a guided tour of the port city organized by the cruise line; it’s an additional cost.)  That day we went on a tour of 2 Greek palaces.  One was the Achilleon palace once owned by a queen and the other was a large mansion.  In addition to beautiful architecture, both of the destinations offered breathtaking views of the sea and the various islands around the bay.   Inside the palaces were museums that contained art and artifacts of ancient and contemporary Greece.  The day was very pleasant and the views were phenomenal.

That evening we were treated to a performance by master illusionist, Leo Ward.  I found myself scratching my head after every trick.  The finale involved him reappearing in the audience on a motorcycle.  It was awesome.

Later that night was the "Gods and Goddesses" party where passengers had the opportunity to dress up as their favorite God or Goddess and compete for best costume.  Some of the entries included Fruit of the Loom (5 men dressed in thong Speedos and covered in garlands of grapes), and the Lesbian Goddess of Home Depot (a woman in a mini skirt and home depot apron).  The winner was The God of Love, a Greek warrior covered in rose petals, who took home a prize of $500.
