As an actress from New York, Shauna Goodgold has her sights set on Broadway.? An all around performer, Shauna not only acts, but dances and sings as well. Having just graduated from Ithaca College’s Musical Theatre Program Cum Laude, she has starred as Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Minnie Fay in Hello Dolly!, Eleni/Young Sophia in OPA!, Cha Cha in Grease, Mildred in Saturday Night, and Heloise de Villefort in The Count of Monte Cristo.

Interested in theatre since she was a child, Shauna has always known what her future would hold. Not being able to pinpoint the exact origins of her desire to act, she explains, “It wasn’t so much that I saw something, a show or a concert; it was more so ingrained in me.? I wish I could think of a moment that sparked my passion, but I think it happened at such a young age that I can’t even remember anymore. I think it’s genetic!”

Since theatre is where Shauna’s heart lies, it makes sense that she is a dancer as well.? Having been in and out of dance classes since she was three, Shauna believes dance was a natural progression for her, as she exclaims, “What else do you do with a kid that sings and dances in every place your parents take you to!”

Utilizing her other theatre talents, Shauna has lent her voice to several recordings and productions. She has sung lead and background vocals in Austin’s Bridge by Broadway director/writer Bill C. Davis (Style Weekly: Richmond’s alternative for news, arts, culture and opinion), Music Theatre International’s Broadway Junior Collection (MTI) CD recording of Once on This Island, Rooms to Go Kids, Starbuck and Co. with Broadway performer and Tony Award nominee Rebecca Luker (www.rebeccaluker.com) and Danny Burstein, (Behind the Stage Door with Danny Burstein, BroadwayWorld.com), Scholastic Read 180, and HBO’s Cathouse.

Expanding on her dance training, Shauna was also a core member and choreographer for the Rock Hard Modern Dance Co. and is on a 3 month tour with Theatreworks USA (www.theatreworksusa.org) as lead character Lucy in The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe (“Conveys the inspirational magic that has captivated young readers for decades.” — Lynn Heffley, The Los Angeles Times.)

As Shauna is a “musical theatre nut”, she totally supports the current craze that is sweeping teenagers across the country, the ever-popular High School Musical.? As Shauna recalls, “My roommate from college and I would do the dances in our living room all the time. I think every kid who has any musical feel, feels the excitement of this show.? It’s just so much fun!”

As for her future, Shauna’s goals are simple – she wants to work.? As she’s fresh out of college, this budding actress wants to “get into straight acting, perhaps grad school and really explore my depths. For now I want to go the musical theatre route.”

With her talent, experience and passion, there?s no doubt her dreams of The Great White Way will come true. ?
