The British Academy of Film and Television Arts/Los Angeles (BAFTA/LA) and the Academy of Television of Arts and Sciences, with BBC America and British Airways, will hold the Fifth Annual Primetime Emmy Nominees Tea Party on September 15. The event will take place at the Wattle Mansions & Gardens in Hollywood, and proceeds will go to the two groups’ philanthropy efforts. Current Emmy nominees from all over the world will convene at the tea party to mingle with past Emmy winners and show business names from the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries, as well as members of BAFTA/LA and the Television Academy.

BAFTA/LA’s Chairman of the Board Peter Morris calls the tea party "a wonderful setting" to honor the boom in British talent on American television, while Dick Askin, the chairman and CEO of the Television Academy, lauds the gathering as "a highly anticipated stop on the road to the Emmys."

In addition to providing outreach programs for members, entertainment industry professionals, and the Los Angeles community in general, BAFTA/LA hosts several social networking events, and members cast their votes for the esteemed BAFTA Film Awards (the British Oscars, as it’s sometimes called). BAFTA/LA holds its own ceremonies every November for the Britannia Awards, whose past honorees include Clint Eastwood, Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, George Lucas, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Elizabeth Taylor, Michael Caine, and Martin Scorsese for the Stanley Kubric Britannia Award for Excellence in Film.

Established in 1946 merely a month after network television was launched, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is dedicated to furthering telecommunication arts and sciences and encouraging creative leadership in the industry. The Academy presents the annual Primetime Emmy Awards in recognition of outstanding work.
