W Hollywood Hotel & Residences is proving that not only does it celebrate art, it is committed to supporting it. Located at the famous corner of Hollywood & Vine, the building infuses fine art into its architecture and interior design, and maintains a philosophy that art is a gift. To that end, W Hollywood Hotel & Residences promised 40% of its multi-million dollar art program budget to funding for art education and programs, arts facilities and the work of local artists through the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles? Cultural Trust Fund. A significant portion?nearly $500,000?has been pledged in support of Hollywood High School?s art program. Additionally, in support of W Hollywood Hotel & Residences? own mission to celebrate art and artists, it was also the title sponsor for KCRW Angel Gala for the second year in a row. The Gala, which took place on June 20, 2007 at the Armand Hammer Museum in Westwood, had the theme ?Eden?s Edge? and showcased the works of 15 Los Angeles artists, both emerging and prolific.
During the Angel Gala, the second floor of the Armand Hammer Museum featured projected images of works by some of the artists who are contributing to the W Hollywood Hotel & Residences. Lending their talents to make W Hollywood Hotel & Residences a true work of art are Los Angeles artist Pae White, best known for his mobile sculptures, Christian Moeller, a local artist born in Germany, and Australian artist Erwin Redl. White is creating a multi-dimensional, mixed media installation for the W Hollywood Hotel & Residences, and Redl?s contribution is a dramatic light installation in the entry?s motor court. Fusing his art with the progressive architecture of the building, Moeller uses light, weather conditions, sounds, and motions to design spaces that are dramatic and provocative.

?We?re looking forward? to experiencing the synthesis of architecture and art that will make W Hollywood come to life,? said Tiffiny Lendrum. Lendrum, who is the principal of Lendrum Fine Arts, is in charge of overseeing the extensive art program that is the soul of W Hollywood Hotel & Residences.
Not only is W Hollywood Hotel & Residences the first and only multi-functional hotel and residential project in Los Angeles, it is also the largest privately financed real estate development in the State of California. Gatehouse Capital Corp is the developer in partnership with Legacy Partners. The project features the 305-room W Hotel, 143 W Residences and 375 luxury apartments (including 78 affordable units). It will also provide more than 50,000 feet of retail space and multiple improvements on the Metro Red Line Station located at Hollywood & Vine.
