Rex LeeAs a volunteer based group, Project Angel Food delivers free professionally prepared meals to the homes of people living with HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses throughout LA County. Originating in 1989 in one person’s tiny apartment kitchen, Project Angel Food has gone from serving 15 to 1,200 meals a day that will now be cooked in their much bigger new home.
To commemorate their move into the newly purchased building, Project Angel Food is holding a 5K fundraising walk from their old home to their new one on Sunday, June 24, 2007.  Hundreds of supporters, city officials and celebrities will participate in the Hollywood Walk to Deliver by walking from Project Angel Food’s old home at 7574 Sunset Boulevard to the new headquarters at 922 Vine Street. Entertainment will be provided at rest stops along the way and there will be a brunch prepared by celebrity chef Evan Kleiman at the walk’s finish.
Every walker must raise $500 with a $25 registration fee. For every $500 raised, every walker will receive one raffle ticket. Winners will be announced at Vine Street Brunch with the Grand Prize of a 2-Year Lease on a Toyota Prius. Other amazing raffle prizes to be won include a two night stay at the famous Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel including dinner at Dakota, membership to Crunch Gym, Movie Tickets, and more. Brunch-only tickets are also on sale for $100 and 100% of the proceeds will benefit Project Angel Food. Everyone is invited to sign up by logging onto www.projectangelfood.org and clicking on Hollywood Walk to Deliver.

In addition to their fundraisers, Project Angel Food gets their message out at celebrity events such as the MTV Movie Awards.  Participating in the GBK Productions Gift Suite May 31st-June 2nd at the Hotel Sofitel in Los Angeles, the charity proved celebrities care about more than just the free loot high-end companies throw at them.
