True Blue: Honoring Stars of the LAPD and The Closer

The Seventh Annual True Blue event brought out some of the Los Angeles Police Departments finest, as well as the cast of the Closer for an evening of honors, food and fun! The event wasn?t only an awards ceremony, but also a benefit to raise money for the Los Angeles Police Foundation.

The night took place on the Streets of New York lot at Paramount Studios, where over 900 attendees gathered for an important cause. There was something for everyone as guests feasted on sumptuous Epicurean buffets as well as down home comfort food provided by In and Out Burger and the world?s famous Pink’s hotdog stand.

Receiving the honor of the Crystal Angel Award for Outstanding Community Service was Reserve Officer Ellen Kanda of the Central Traffic Division, Officer Kathy Mc Anany of the Central Division, Officer Gary Ross of the West Traffic Division and Officer Mandy Serrano of the Rampart Division. Also honored were Kyra Sedgwick and the cast of TNT?s hit police drama The Closer for it’s positive portrayal of the LAPD.

Fun, educational displays and interactive booths gave guests the opportunity to converse with the men and women in blue that were on hand to show the many resources provided for special units by the Los Angeles Police Foundation. From the Gang and Operation Section?s Gun Unit raising awareness to the riveting live demonstration by the S.W.A.T Team, there was a feeling throughout the night of honor in donating for a worthy cause. A silent auction had generous bidders walking away with exotic getaways, valuable sports paraphernalia, fine dining and wining experiences and once in a lifetime opportunities such as a ride in a true military fighter jet. Proceeds went to various foundation grants for specialized safety equipment and programs that will benefit the community.

Also attending and lending?their support?were Albert Brooks, Jim Wiatt, CEO of the William Morris Agency,? Los Angeles police cheif William Bratton, Tony Dennison, and Paul Micheal Chan.
