			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Miami Beach hosted a successful <strong>Rock Fashion Week </strong>at the <strong>Eden Roc Renaissance Hotel</strong> this last week. Rain threatened to ruin the affair, but due to such an eye-popping fashion show, attendees were not deterred and stayed despite the downpour.</p>

<p>Opening for the week was<strong> Russell Simmons’ Argyleculture</strong> line, featuring his new <strong>American Classic</strong> and<strong> Simmons Jewelry</strong>. The show was packed with fashion insiders, socialites and a very glammed up <strong>Dennis Rodman</strong>. As the show began on the outdoor pool runway, rain began to start. As it started to downpour, the crowd rushed in to the venue, while the models were caught backstage. Where we would usually lose the fashion crowd due to rain, the first looks of Russell&#8217;s line made such an impression that the crowd flawlessly flowed into the indoor venue. Argyleculture showed statement pieces that wowed the audience, mixed with soft pastels and stunning jewelry from his jewelry line. Dennis and Russell had a great time backstage after the show.</p>

Already selling in over 80 countries, the <strong>Netherlands-based company</strong> known for their modern take on <strong>beanbag chairs</strong> is now bringing that eye for inventive design and expressive color choice to the development of fashionable bags and purses.</p>
<p>Each Fatboy bag is available in a <strong>variety of colors</strong>, including orange, pink, black, red, turquoise, green, blue, camouflage, and metallic soulbags in silver, bronze and titan. Those bold enough to indulge in the Fatboy experience receive each bag shipped in magnified matchbox boxes. The Dutch design bag line includes <strong>8 product choices</strong>; Flapbag, Pantzer, Jumper, Undercover, Soulbag, Eetwie and Bag-it.</p>
<p><strong>How They Did It</strong><br />
Reports that cannot be confirmed at this time suggest Fatboy took the famed Dutch design studio <strong>DeMakersVan</strong> hostage <img class="alignright size-full wp-image-9033" title="Fatboy Bags" src="http://lastheplace.com/images/article-images//2009/07/he.jpg" alt="Fatboy Bags" width="280" height="323" />and demanded they collaborate on the design of the Fatboy bags. These reports cannot be confirmed at this time because they aren’t actually true; the pairing of Fatboy’s irreverent style with DeMakersVan trendsetting team of young international designers was the most exciting coupling since Brad and Angelina. (Note: No prior marriages were harmed in the making of Fatboy bags).</p>
<p>The only thing missing from this scintillating duet is a Brangelina-like monikor, though we’re guessing DeFatboy or FatMakers wouldn’t do justice for the work these creative minds did in their “<strong>collaboratorium</strong>”. Fatboy and DeMakersVan combined various production techniques and materials to make certain the final product would possess signature Fatboy features. Very strong materials with <strong>environmental friendly</strong> coatings were mixed with elements from the aviation and <strong>extreme sports industry</strong>. Parachute buckles, seatbelts, scuba diving zippers and the use of noiseless Velcro are some examples for the original and highly detailed finishing on the outside and inside of the bags.</p>

<p>Oodles of celebrities all decked out and bedazzled in sparkling jewels literally shined at <strong>The Palazzo Las Vegas</strong> and <strong>Simon G’s Spring Bling</strong> on May 30th, 2009, benefiting the <strong>Lili Claire Foundation</strong>. This uber-chic outdoor affair, held next door to <strong>The Venetian</strong>, the world&#8217;s largest five-diamond resort, at The Palazzo’s <strong>Azure Pool</strong> was hosted by the beautiful <strong>Vanessa Minnillo</strong> of “<strong>Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer</strong>”, and the always-classy <strong>Kris Jenner</strong> of “<strong>Keeping up with the Kardashians</strong>”.<span id="more-8217"></span></p>
<p>An exclusive pool-side fashion show hosted by <strong>LA-based designer David Alexander</strong>, who graciously styled all the celebs, and special performances by <strong>Sara Bareilles</strong> and <strong>Colby O’Donis</strong>, made this Spring festivity one to truly savor. Other celebrities in attendance included <strong>Bethenny Frankel</strong>, <strong>Khloe Kardashian</strong>, <strong>Holly Madison</strong>, <strong>Brittny Gastineau</strong>, <strong>Lacey Schwimmer, Shari Belefonte</strong>, <strong>DJ Chuck</strong>, American Idol alum, <strong>Chikezie</strong>, and <strong>Annie Wersching</strong>. Vanessa Minnillo and Kris Jenner both wore designs by David Alexander and jewelry by Simon G.</p>
<p>Fashion designer <strong>David Alexander’s</strong> newest collection, <strong>“The Furious Phantoms”</strong>, is reminiscent of the classic 1920s with a special twist, incorporating David’s signature aesthetic of custom cut Swarovski crystal encrusted pieces. The collection, which is sponsored by <strong>Ka Wang Holdings</strong> and <strong>DomizianoArcangeli</strong> , is inspired by the cohesion of structure and shape, molding together in one perfect anthology collection, that is ultimately expressed through a theatrical storytelling of the reemergence of the ghosts of glamour&#8217;s past. The ethereal partygoers dance and play furiously, until the structured Keeper of the Phantoms eventually captures them and returns them to the land of never-ending summer fun.</p>

<p><strong>Bethenny Frankel</strong> of “The Real Housewives of New York City” spent the afternoon lounging in her private cabana at The Palazzo’s elegant Azure Pool while dining on a lobster salad from Wolfgang Puck’s exclusive <strong>Azure</strong> poolside menu.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Khloe Kardashian</strong> excitedly shopped at <strong>Barney’s</strong> <strong>The Shoppes at The Palazzo</strong>, where she eventually settled on picking up a lovely black mesh <strong>Alexander Wang</strong> dress and <strong>Christian Louboutin</strong> heels&#8230; She later wore both to the Spring Bling. Once she entered the event, she smilingly slinked down the catwalk which wrapped around the Azure Pool in an exclusive design by <strong>David Alexander</strong> and made a quick change back into her Alexander Wang dress afterwards.</p>

<p>Adorably, just before that, long-time friends <strong>Khloe Kardashian</strong> and <strong>Brittny Gastineau </strong>gave each other huge bear hugs before walking down the red carpet. Neither knew the other was going to be there and both were pleasantly surprised to be reunited.</p>
<p>During a truly beautiful and moving moment, <strong>American Idol</strong> star, <strong>Chikezie</strong>, honored the <strong>Lili Claire Foundation</strong> with a one-of-a-kind performance with a Lili Claire child. However, not to be outdone, Sara Bareilles nicely rounded out the musical evening with a special performance of her hits “<strong>Love Song</strong>”and “<strong>Bottle It Up</strong>”.</p>

<p><strong>ALL-4-ONE, Grammy-Award</strong> winning, multi-platinum selling group, performed their world premiere performance of their new single &#8220;<strong>My Child</strong>&#8221; at the event.</p>
<p><strong>Brittny Gastineau </strong>certainly had a great time at the Spring Bling and was even spotted dancing on the ledge of The Palazzo’s Azure pool while <strong>Colby O’Donis</strong> was performed with <strong>Bethenny Frankel</strong>. Bethenny Frankel later whispered to Brittny Gastineau that “this is the nicest, classiest event” she has attended in ages.</p>
<p>The caterer <strong>Dos Caminos</strong> served delicious tastes of a scrumptious modern Mexican cuisine, which included Alaskan King Crab Sope, Ancho Seared Tuna Tostadita, Smoked Duck Tortas, Squash Blossom Relleno, Ceviche and Filet Mignon Alambre, the restaurant’s famed guacamole, and a special signature “Spring Bling” margarita.</p>
<p>Furthermore, although an unusual Vegas spring shower softly sprinkled the celebs as they watched the David Alexander fashion show, it failed to dampen anyone’s spirits. No one seemed to mind the drizzle and <strong>Vanessa Minnillo</strong> even exclaimed “The rain, the wind…it’s kind of sexy!”</p>
<p>Later <strong>Lacey Schwimmer </strong>of “Dancing with the Stars” put rumors of a relationship with <strong>Jack Ass</strong> star <strong>Steve-O</strong> to rest as she spent the evening dancing and getting cozy with her new boyfriend, Paula Abdul back-up dancer, <strong>John Derek Guthri</strong>. Lacey even sat on his lap during the VIP reception in The Palazzo’s exclusive Chairman’s Suite. She mentioned that she will most likely be dancing with <strong>Donny Osmond</strong> in next season’s “<strong>Dancing with the Stars</strong>” because he requested her as a partner. Lacey absolutely fell in love with The Palazzo property and kept saying how she couldn’t wait to come back in a few months and celebrate her 21st birthday in Vegas at The Palazzo!</p>

<p>For under $50, you can go from ‘frump to fab’ in 10 minutes and Nolan Robert will tell you how. “<em>Use a tinted moisturizer and sheer pressed powder for the face; a neutral colored eyeshadow duo, mascara and a soft powder eyeliner for the eyes; lip stain or gloss for the lips; finish your face with a dust of bronzer (optional) and off you go! You are looking gorgeous in less than 10 minutes &#8212; on a budget!</em>”</p>

<p><strong>Nolan Shares His Beauty Tips!</strong></p>
<p><strong>LA&#8217;s the Place: </strong>What is the biggest mistake women make when applying makeup?</p>
<p><strong>Nolan Robert:</strong><em> </em>Every woman should feel confident and look their best every day and a really big mistake women make is when they apply make-up in the car! That&#8217;s a big mistake for many reasons! Remember: less is more so pick your best feature i.e. lips, eyes, etc., and apply your boldest color there. Make that your focal point because 20 coats of mascara is not pretty.</p>
<p><strong>LATP: </strong>What products do you recommend for a quick evening look?<strong> </strong></p>
<p><strong>NR: </strong>Always use a good lash plumper to create voluptuous lashes and add a bold color on your eyes or lips. Find eye shadows that compliment your eye color i.e. green eyes really ‘pop’ when you use an orange or red hue. Brown eyes ‘pop’ with a blue or green hue. These colors don&#8217;t have to be true to shade but the must have an undertone of those colors. Lips need a bold color that is powerful yet feminine. Shades like a bright pink or a bright red are perfect for the evening. A great blush color is a plus as well.</p>
<p><strong>LATP: </strong>How does daytime make-up differ from evening make-up?</p>
<p><strong><img class="size-full wp-image-7240 alignright" style="margin-left: 6px; margin-right: 0px;" title="Nolan Robert's make up" src="http://lastheplace.com/images/article-images//2009/04/nolanrobert2.jpg" alt="nolanrobert2" width="229" height="229" />NR: </strong>The difference between day and evening make-up is up to one’s own personality and style. We tend to wear less makeup during the day because, in the sunlight, makeup can look heavy and the colors can seem a bit dramatic. The evening allows you to play up your style by adding bolder shades and more coverage to your look without feeling that everyone is staring at you or that you are on your way to a Halloween party!</p>
<p><strong>LATP: </strong>Can you go from daytime make-up to evening make-up in less than 10 minutes?</p>
<p><strong>NR: </strong>Absolutely! Apply a bold color to your eyes or lips, a dark eyeliner or lip liner, a blush color and MORE mascara – but be careful with the mascara! This transition is very easy and very fast.</p>
<p><strong>LATP: </strong>Do men wear make-up?</p>
<p><strong></strong></p>
<div class="mceTemp"><strong>NR: </strong>In today&#8217;s society, gay and straight men are caring more and more about their personal style and how they look. Men care about fashion, their skin and products. Men are wearing concealers to hide those blemishes. They are also wearing mascara and eyeliner to enhance their eyes! Today’s man is starting to feel beautiful and confident about himself &#8211; you can be straight and masculine, or not, and you can still be pretty. In a world that is very celebrity-driven, people tend to model themselves after a favorite celebrity and this includes men! Today’s man not only wants what the celebs have – they want to look like that hot celeb – and make-up allows men to boost their ‘look’ and ‘feel’ like Brad Pitt.</div>
<p><strong>LATP:</strong> What products do you recommend for men?</p>
<p><strong>NR:</strong> Look for products that work for your particular skin-type. Cream concealers are best for men and a loose, translucent powder is recommended to set. Clear mascara is a great product for men to enhance their lashes but not over do them. A powder shadow in brown also makes a great eyeliner and, if you apply the shadow to the lash line, your eyes will pop!”</p>

<p>The Scots came out to celebrate <strong>Dressed to Kilt</strong>, the highest-profile Scottish event in the United States. The highly-anticipated event featured kilted gents and plaid-clad ladies strutting their stuff down the runway for an A-list of judges. Traditional kilts as well as fashion-forward garb are showcased in a lavish display of Scottish pride. Honorary Chairman Sir Sean Connery and his wife hosted the seventh annual Dressed to Kilt charity fashion show in New York City, which took place March 31, 2009.<span id="more-7178"></span></p>

<p>This year’s proceeds from Dressed to Kilt benefitted the <strong>Wounded Warriors</strong> program and the <strong>Paralyzed Veterans of America</strong> through <strong>Friends of Scotland</strong>, a non-profit corporation dedicated to advancing contemporary Scottish interests in the United States.</p>

<p> The show began with the introduction of <strong>Capelta&#8217;s 2009 boot collection</strong>. The designer, <strong>Monique Capelta,</strong> has a unique twist on incorporating different eras in her collection. Her collection looked to be inspired by vintage shops. She has taken the cowboy boot to a whole new level by adding fur and fringe. Her <strong>Billie Jean boots</strong> are a fabulous throwback to the All-American cowgirl. Monique manages to push the boundaries with her style and it works.</p>

<p>The main headliner was <strong>Jeffery Sebelia&#8217;s line Cosa Nostra</strong>. Most people know Jeffrey as the winner of <strong>Project Runway</strong> and seeing a sneak peek of his line proves he was chosen for a reason. Jeffrey has always played with hemlines and length variations. His Spring collection shows a softer side by using clean lines with the same asymmetrical feel. He has incorporated prints in his collection which will score him a home run. The prints he picked are fabulous. The <strong>Ford</strong> models all looked stunning showing off the collection. The only disappointment was we only had the chance to preview five looks and it left me wanting more.</p>

<p>From top to bottom and interior to exterior, Barbie® doll’s New Beetle convertible has left no detail unfinished. From the white custom leather interior and convertible top to the hand stitched floor mats and pink quilted leather lined door pockets and arm rests, even the dipstick is painted to resemble her favorite lipstick. The New Beetle convertible is equipped with a motorized vanity in the trunk and plenty of rhinestone accents and vanity mirrors. Over five shades of paint were mixed together to create the perfect pink color for Barbie® doll’s car.</p>

The Barbie® birthday festivities were complete with 1,800 pairs of Barbie® sunglasses, 3,500 pairs of tiny shoes, 3,500 mini handbags and numerous Hollywood celebrity guests.</p>

<p><strong>La&#8217;s The Place</strong>:&nbsp; Chris, how did the new Pawparazzi Pets website perform during the most recent Holiday season?</p>
<p><strong>Chris Ryan</strong>:&nbsp; <a href="http://www.pawparazzi.com">www.pawparazzi.com</a> was launched late in the holiday season, but we were thrilled with the response. It&#8217;s exciting for us to interact with kids who can vote on favorite pets, share photos, play games, and join our Fan Club. We had many orders of our new clothing sets and the new <strong>Pawparazzi Luxury Sets</strong>. We also are finding that customers are ordering many of our accessory products that aren&#8217;t carried by all of our retail stores. Part of our goal with the website is to make it easy for kids to order our full line.</p>
<p><strong>LATP</strong>:&nbsp; How do you see the future of interactive websites for kids and the possible conversion to actual sales?</p>
<p><strong>CR</strong>:&nbsp; Interactive websites are now more extensive and delivering more entertainment. Virtual world websites have upped the ante even further. This is certainly a direction that we are moving in. Providing a safe virtual world environment will allow us to develop each Pawparazzi character and allow for a whole new level of play interaction.</p>
<p><strong>LATP</strong>:&nbsp; How has the new <strong><a title="Pawparazzi Luxury Set" href="http://lastheplace.com/2008/12/21/pawparazzi-pets-make-the-perfect-kids-play-set-gift/">Pawparazzi Luxury Set</a></strong> been received and do you see more high-end products coming from your company?</p>
<p><strong>CR</strong>:&nbsp; This new item offers a complete set of pets, accessories and a fun resort-like play environment. It has done particularly well at higher-end stores like <strong>Neiman Marcus, Barneys NY </strong>and <strong>FAO Schwarz</strong>. We are already creating the next fantasy play environment and it&#8217;s even more fun than the hotel. But these environments are meant to be added to each other so it will get even more fun when they are combined.</p>

<p><strong>CR</strong>:&nbsp; We will keep Pawparazzi fresh with new product releases. It is all about play, fashion and imagination. We have recently released some irresistibly cute clothing &amp; accessories to extend the play value and stickiness of the product. Kids become very attached to the Pawparazzi characters which are funny, inspirational and lend themselves to media development. </p>

<p><strong>LATP</strong>: The Pawparazzi line seems to be geared towards the young female market. Do you have plans of a product line for boys?</p>
<p><strong>CR</strong>:&nbsp; We do.&nbsp; We are currently working on a line of Pawparazzi called <strong>Dog Dudes&#8482;. </strong>These are sporty, adventurous, and very laid-back dogs. They&#8217;ll have boy-friendly accessories like surfboards, skateboards, and rescue gear. Look for them later this year.</p>
<p><strong>LATP</strong>: How has the newest line of celebrity pets been received compared to the first generation?</p>
<p><strong><img title="Paparazzi Pets Accessories" style="margin-right: 3px" height="211" alt="Paparazzi Pets Accessories" width="340" align="left" src="http://lastheplace.com/images/article-images/12009Articles/Advertorials/aces.jpg" />CR</strong>:&nbsp; We have had strong demand for the second edition pets. One challenge is that girls seem to collect 3-5 of them on average. So we have to create different accessories so that girls aren&#8217;t getting the same items repeatedly. With the new line we moved from rhinestone wristlets and charms to pearl jewelry. Our next release will feature more play accessories based on the specific personality of each character.</p>
<p><strong>LATP</strong>:&nbsp; Will there be an expansion of the Hotel Pawparazzi for this year&#8217;s product line?</p>
<p><strong>CR</strong>:&nbsp; We have a great new play box design and we are now finishing the artwork for it. The new box will probably not be released until late 2009, however because the Pawparazzi Hotel is still very popular and we have been focusing on other play accessories.<img title="" height="224" alt="" width="635" src="http://lastheplace.com/images/article-images/12009Articles/Advertorials/life.jpg" /></p>
<p><strong>LATP</strong>:&nbsp; Do you see more growth for your company in the Internet retail sector or wholesale of your product line?</p>
<p><strong>CR</strong>:&nbsp; We absolutely see a place for both. There is no intention of circumventing retail stores, and our website pricing does not undercut retail stores. But <a href="http://www.pawparazzi.com">www.pawparazzi.com</a>&nbsp; allows interactive entertainment and direct contact with our fans (customers). Our site also insures availability of the full line of products and accessories across North America. Our &#8220;Fan Club&#8221; area adds interest &amp; loyalty with events, contests, and other benefits to members.</p>
<p>At the same time, we are strengthening store relationships by developing exciting in-store merchandising and displays for our retailers. Our sense is that stores always have the advantage of selling <a title="Pawparazzi" href="http://lastheplace.com/2008/12/21/pawparazzi-pets-make-the-perfect-kids-play-set-gift/">Pawparazzi</a> because of the immediate gratification of being able to walk out of the store with it.</p>

Jerell Scott, the 4th runner-up of the show, is the co-owner and a notable creative force behind the boutique’s image. Ani Lee, the former owner and now co-owner, also featured her own line, which was seen on the employees working the event.</p>

<p>On this night, the VIP guests were the first to preview and purchase their striking collections, while sipping on cocktails and beers provided by Firestone Walker Brewing Company. Tasty hors d’oeuvres were passed around and the sounds of African drumming provided a lively backdrop.
