Third Uprising showcased an exclusive preview to their upcoming Fall fashion line at Baldoria in Little Tokyo. The latest minimal wear clothing brand featured collaborations with local Los Angeles artists, and humanitarian initiatives with the World War II Foundation. Third Uprising is an LA-based clothing brand established by a small team of creatives and digital entrepreneurs.
Along with the fashion preview, media enjoyed a Baldoria brunch feast. As attendees were arriving, guests had a choice of brunch cocktails to get things started, which included mimosas and variations of bloody marys. I went with the Bloody Bulldog – a bloody mary with gin instead of vodka.
The brunch began with Baldoria Smashed Fingerling Potatoes and Heirloom Tomato & Peach Salad. The bite size potatoes were seasoned with gremolata and creme fraiche, the salad which was one of my favorites of the day. This was a cute stack of tomatoes, basil, peaches, burrata cheese topped with a 6-year old balsamic.
The breakfast entrees soon followed, boasting Chicken & Waffle Tacos and Ciabatta French Toast. Perfect for sharing, the Chicken & Waffle Tacos came with spicy fried chicken inside of apple -cinna waffles, topped with whistlepig maple syrup and sliced strawberries. The texture of the Ciabatta French Toast was on par, great spin on a classic dish.
After breakfast was the onslaught of pizza, starting off with the Mrs. Croque, then the Yukon Gold, and finally the 3-Meat Upriser. My favorite of the three was the Mrs. Croque, as the name suggests this pizza is like a croque madame. Topped with black forest ham, bechamel, grand cru gruyere and a cage free egg. The Yukon Gold has yukon potatoes, caramelized onions, fresh thyme, cheddar, and truffle salt. The 3-Meat Upriser features veal, beef, pork meatballs, grilled fennel, garlic and oregano. All three are authentic brunch creations from Baldoria.
