If youâre a lover of classic Hollywood, this is a rare and special art exhibition by the legendary photographer Douglas Kirkland, whoâs taken some of the most iconic photographs in Hollywood history.
The exhibition will feature a compilation of the most prominent images captured throughout Kirklandâs 50-year history. These include shots from his collection of books including, âLight Yearsâ, âIconsâ, âLegendsâ, âBody Storiesâ, âAn Evening with Marilynâ, the best-selling âJames Cameronâs Titanicâ, âFreeze Frameâ and âCoco Chanel, Three Weeksâ and Kirklandâs 2013 monograph.
Kirkland has worked with nearly every iconic star one can imagine from John Lennon to Marilyn Monroe and Jack Nicholson to Nicole Kidman.
Douglas Kirkland is proud to present his latest exhibition, DOUGLAS KIRKLAND: BEYOND THE LENS, on exhibition and available for acquisition only at the venerable Mouche Gallery in Beverly Hills beginning Wednesday, April 26 through Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
Kirkland joined Look Magazine in his early twenties, and later Life Magazine during the golden age of 60âs/70âs photojournalism.
Among his assignments were essays on Greece, Lebanon and Japan as well as fashion and celebrity work, photographing Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Marlene Dietrich among others.
Through the years, Douglas Kirkland has worked on the sets of over one hundred motion pictures. Among them, âButch Cassidy and the Sundance Kidâ, â2001 A Space Odysseyâ, “Sound of Music”, âOut of Africaâ, âTitanic,â âMoulin Rouge,â “Australia” and âThe Great Gatsby,â Baz Luhrmannâs film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire.
Kirkland, who is considered one of the most respected photographers in the industry, will make special in-gallery appearances throughout opening weekend Friday, April 28 from 6-8pm, Saturday, April 29 from 1-4pm and Sunday, April 30 from 1-4pm.
