Salt Restaurant is Marina del Rey Hotel’s culinary hidden gem, and one of the best places to eat in Marina del Rey. The Marina del Rey Hotel is a California classic, built in 1964. With a recent $25 million renovation, Salt’s restaurant ambiance is the perfect indoor-outdoor setting for a great dining experience.

Salt was voted OpenTable Diner’s Choice for “Best Ambiance and Outdoor Dining” on the Westside.

Behind the bar mimicks the starry night sky. Its modern décor – like contemporary light fixtures and back-lighting – this, coupled with vintage photography – makes the setting unique and unforgettable.

At the helm of Salt is the very talented and experienced Executive Chef Mark Gold. Previously with Beverly Boulevard’s Eva, Chez Soi in Manhattan Beach, and Michelin-Star-rated PatinaGold brings a level of culinary sophistication to Marina del Rey with his innovative take on modern American cuisine.

A great restaurant is the essence of a great chef.

Salt’s menu is modern twist on fresh California cuisine, seasonally-inspired and locally-sourced from local farmer’s markets for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food at Salt is delicious, meticulous and the reason you go out to dine.

Beautiful communal table for special occasions or just getting together with your favorite people.

The hanging light fixtures over the communal tables, and the backlit wood carving screens serve as a backdrop for every meal.

We stopped in recently to experience Salt for ourselves. Walking in takes you back to a wonderful past era; a snapshot of the rich history history of Marina del Rey, within the context of the new modern renovation.

We loved the open concept of indoor-outdoor dining.

The sweeping design, the colors, the art that dances beautifully with the gorgeous location right on the water literally transports you to a wonderful place!

For dinner, some of their delicious offerings on the menu that we recommend are:

Avocado Hummus: A favorite. Creamy, velvety hummus with a touch of California avocado, served with crisp grilled pita and fresh vegetables.

Little Gem Caesar Salad: One of the best Caesar salads I’ve ever had. The crisp, tender hearts of fresh Romaine with a mouth-watering dressing of meyer lemon, garlic, olive oil and grated reggiano.
Red Beets and Burrata: Divine. Red beets, red berries, pickled beets, Burrata cheese, red meadow sorrel.

Prime Beef Ribeye Medallion: Flavorful, tender, cooked to perfect, served with fresh artichoke heart roasted with garlic and bay leaf, roasted potato, bordelaise and mustard. This plate was perfection. I will go back just for this dish alone! Exquisite flavors.

Salt Marina del Rey

Scottish Salmon: Grilled, served with potato emulsion, green asparagus, mushroom salsa verde.
