Dr. Bruce LeeRox Center‘s newest physician, Dr. Bruce B. Lee, has a created and developed a ground-breaking procedure for the 7 million women in the United States who are facing a hysterectomy.

Dr. Lee offers an alternative: Acessa, a safe, effective, and minimally-invasive procedure to treat fibroids. Cleared by the FDA, Acessa allows a quick recovery, a low relapse rate, and decreased postoperative pain, while eliminating the need for hysterectomy in most patients. Doctors can now offer a new, outpatient, low-risk, highly-effective procedure, while patients can look forward to getting their lives back. Even better, Dr. Lee has opened his practice at the Rox Center in Beverly Hills and is now accepting new patients for Acessa treatment and more.

“By launching the Fibroid Treatment Center in Beverly Hills at the Rox Center, I am joining a medical community known around the world for medical excellence,” Dr. Lee said. Acessa works on the principle of radiofrequency ablation, a long-existing technology that has been applied to tumors in only the last 20 years. Radiofrequency ablation works by running a focused electrical current through the body that creates heat in a controlled fashion.

The current is set for a frequency that doesn’t activate nerves or muscles. Instead, it destroys tumors, shrinking and breaking down the growth to its basic building blocks, which the body then safely reabsorbs. Because of its versatility, radiofrequency ablation can treat several fibroids at a time, in any location and in any size.

Dr. Lee has used radiofrequency ablation to effectively and safely treat fibroids since 1999, and he personally designed the equipment used in the Acessa treatment. In the process, Dr. Lee has refined Acessa to be a same-day, outpatient, minimally invasive procedure that requires only two small incisions (5mm and 10mm).

After Acessa, patients can return to normal activities in a mere 3 to 5 days with negligible postoperative discomfort and the elimination of all fibroid symptoms. “As the first physician to successfully treat fibroids with radiofrequency ablation and laparoscopic ultrasound, and therefore as the surgeon most experienced in performing Acessa, I feel it essential to provide an informative and intensive training program so that patients everywhere can safely enjoy the many benefits of Acessa,” said Dr. Lee.

Satisfied patients have praised Acessa for reasons as simple as keeping their uterus to the relief of fibroid symptoms, as they enjoy normal urination and bowel movements, the elimination of back pain, decreased bleeding, and a flatter stomach. Pateiints have also reported a return to work and vigorous exercise within weeks.

Dr. Lee brings to the world-renowned Rox Center many years of experience and knowledge on fibroid treatments. He has been the lead investigator in several studies published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has lectured on the topic for more than a decade. In addition, he has taught the Acessa procedure to gynecological surgeons in the United States, Europe, Canada, Mexico, and Central America.

At Rox Center in Beverly Hills, Dr. Lee will perform consultations, ultrasound examinations, and advise patients about all forms of fibroid treatment. In addition, his hands-on instruction and guidance for gynecological surgeons will continue with his Fibroid Training Institute.

Dr. Lee’s roots go far in Southern California. A native of the region, he attended Keck-USC School of Medicine and did his residency at Women’s Hospital / Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center before opening a clinical practice in Monterey, Calif. During his time in Monterey, he also served as Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and was a Medical Director at Monterey Peninsula Surgery Center until 2008. In addition, Dr. Lee has held staff positions in multiple countries and six states, including Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Dr. Lee is Board Certified in Ob/Gyn. In 2004, Dr. Lee co-founded Halt Medical, Inc. so that he could design and develop the instrumentation that would make Acessa possible. At Halt, he was the Chief Medical Officer for 10 years and is credited with multiple patents in the field of radiofrequency ablation.

He brings back that expertise and deep familiarity with Acessa to Rox Center of  Beverly Hills.

More on Uterine Fibroids Symptoms of unterine fibroids include heavy menstrual bleeding, painful menstruation, abdominal distension, pelvic aches,  urinary frequency. Over time, the patient’s quality of life and bodily functions deteriorate, as the symptoms get worse with the passing months and years. Often, a hysterectomy is the only solution suggested by physicians, but neither patients nor doctors are satisfied with the idea. As a result, the majority of patients opt to endure their fibroids instead of undergoing major surgery, and physicians have advised patients to endure their fibroids (with medication) to avoid the complications of surgery for as long as possible. _________________________________________________________________________________________________
