Glamour-packed and fun, BeautyCon 2013 was Beauty’s Social Media event of the year! The most popular Vloggers, Pinners, Instagramers and digital trend-setters in Fashion and Beauty got to meet face to face with devoted fans and get their hands on some fabulous brands!
Sponsored by NYX Cosmetics, Style Haul, and The Platform, BeautyCon kicked off the three-day event at YouTube Space LA with celebrities Sophia Bush and Christina Milian plus high profile Vloggers/Bloggers Kandee Johnson, Mr. Kate, Elle and Blair Fowler, WendysLookBook and Mandana Dayani (VP of Rachel Zoe Inc).
How It All Began
YouTube sensation Marina Curry created BeautyCon so that “like-minded content creators could interact and enjoy a tangible experience,” stepping out of the virtual world and meeting face to face.
Kelly Osbourne worked her signature lavender tresses, all aglow with fiancé, Matthew Mosshart. Shenae Grimes grooved with husband Josh Beech up at the DJ’s decks. Audrina Patridge, Jeannie Mai, Edy Ganem, Rebecca Black, Fernanda Romero and Cassie Scerbo made this a truly star-studded event for the digital elite.
Over 1,000 attendees drank in the tips, trends, and insights of Alisa Gould Simon (Founder of Pose), Leslie Blodgett (Founder of Bare Minerals), Geri Hirsh (Blogger, becauseimaddicted.net), Andrea Brooks (YouTuber, Andrea’s Choice), and P’Trique ( “Sh*t Fashion Girls Say” and America’s Next Top Model). They offered their expertise as content creators in the digital realm.
Along with über-informative speakers’ panels, BeautyCon boasted interactive product booths, where lucky attendees and 300+ content creators got up close and personal with the latest products and trends from:
See You Monday Clothing
Million Dollar Tan
Joico Hair Care,
Digital brands Epoxy, Uber, Pose and Lulu’s were in the house as well!
On day three, was public event. Eager fashionistas waited in a line stretching 3 blocks to get in to Siren Studios and take part in the DIYs, celebrity panels, and specially-curated beauty marketplace.
BeautyCon’s 2013 philanthropic partnership was with I AM THAT GIRL (www.iamthatgirl.com), a charity “that connects thousands of young women nationwide with peers and role models who are dedicated to speaking their truth, collaboration, and creating safe space that inspires them to transform self-doubt in to self-love, ultimately allowing them to emerge as successful, healthy adults.”
Blogger Sydne Summer, Celebrity Colorist George Papanikolas and Stylist Monica Rose also made the event truly memorable. Members of The BFVA (The Beauty and Fashion Vloggers Alliance) were also in attendance, making BeautyCon the Who’s Who of fashion/beauty internet programming. Amy Paffrath hosted the NYX Face Awards to close the summit, which ended with real, live, well-deserved applause.
