International superstar Natacha Atlas has released in 2013 a new live album called Expressions – Live in Toulouse. The new CD was recorded live with the prestigious Toulouse Chamber Orchestra at the Toulouse National Theater in the South of France.
The 2013 release of Expressions – Live in Toulouse marks another five star release by international superstar Natacha Atlas. It was recorded in the South of France with the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra with musical arrangements by her musical partner Sami Bishai. The new live recording displays her bands various instruments with an orchestral formation. As with much of her previous works, Natacha has pushed music to its limits by endlessly exploring both eastern and western music and finding a common bond in both.
[youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKg2eEEBXio[/youtube]Along with this 2013 release, Natacha has been busy composing music for a prestigious contemporary ballet, also with Sami Bishai, for the famous French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj. The ballet is based on 1001 Nights but lends itself as an extremely edgy contemporary take on its theme. The ballet, called Les Nuits in French, opened in April. The music is a mixture of sound design and electronics with orchestral and Arabic elements. With hopes of an album down the line, Natacha is very pleased with the musical arrangements that she and Sami Bishai have composed.
Working with her own record label for the first time, Natacha has a very busy schedule for all of 2013 with many projects on the horizon. As with all of her previous albums, Expressions – Live in Toulouse is without question another collector’s item.
