The Story Behind the Designs of The Bungalows

Recently, the five Bungalows were presented to local companies and groups, who sponsored them and then were given free rein to completely redecorate their Bungalow to reflect their company’s branded style.

From Fox Head Inc.’s sexy black and white theme, to Hobie’s tribute to a vintage surf era, to gorjana & griffins nautical embellishments, the interiors are as unique as their company sponsor. Located on the sand and adjacent to Pacific Edge’s infamous The Deck, the Bungalows are socially central; making it easy to sip a drink, jump in the water, or retreat to the shade when needed.

The companies that sponsor the five Bungalows are: Billabong, Fox Head, Inc., Hobie and Tuvalu, The Sleepy Hollow Group, gorjana & griffin.

Billabong

The Billabong Bungalow was designed as a “Surfers Paradise” built in the heart of Laguna Beach. As you look around, take in the surfing images that cover the wall, reclaimed wood accents, ocean blue décor, and soothing colors reflective of the sea. Enjoy sparkling water views from this comfortable laid back lounge designed to make visitors feel at home at the beach.

The Fox Head, Inc. Bungalows

This ultimate ‘man cave’ features a black leather sofa and zebra print rug, accented by the ornate black framed images that line the wall. This Bungalow represents the vision and feel of Fox Head, Inc., a motocross company.  From surf to turf, Fox is a leader both in the water and on the dirt. The dark painted room, rustic tires and vintage prints highlight the history of Fox, while the vinyl-wrapped mirrors and bathroom appeal to the surf enthusiasts. The testosterone-inducing surroundings echo the high intensity, physically demanding sport of both motocross and surf.

The Hobie and Tuvalu Bungalow

Hobie and Tuvalu’s beach cottage design was inspired by the life of Hobie Alter, whose numerous innovations fashioned on Laguna Beach have gone on to influence the beach and surf culture around the world. Hobie shaped his surfboards in Laguna Beach just blocks away from the Pacific Edge Hotel. It was the Laguna scenic shore line, rocky coves, and ever-changing tides that compelled Hobie to think outside the box.

Guests can enjoy a playful atmosphere where they gaze out onto the coastline, kick off their shoes, and experience the same powerful sense of inspiration and ingenuity that Hobie felt 60 years ago.

The Sleepy Hollow Group Bungalow

Inviting, soothing and relaxing, the Sleepy Hollow Bungalow experience is casual, just like a day at the beach – with sand, sun and surf. Designed by Tania Cassill Interior Design, the Bungalows color palette and theme is inspired by the art of Wolfgang Bloch, one of Sleepy Hollow Group’s founding members. Wolfgang’s art is a sublime, romantic interpretation of the Laguna coastline.

Custom LED lighting provided by The Cerno Group, the Bungalow’s mood is enhanced by the sun and reflections off of the ocean. Natural sisal area rugs absorb sand from visitors’ feet and maintain the clean comfortable look. Reclaimed wood from vintage wood floors panel one of the walls and create a warm natural feeling. The furniture in the sitting area was designed by Tania Cassill Interior and is covered with Paisley Label Natural & Hand-Blocked Fabric by Tania Cassill. The large windows are covered with cotton panels provided by Paisley Label to maintain the cool breeze from the ocean and the sun’s natural light.

The gorjana & griffin Bungalow

The design theme for this Bungalow is “modern-nautical” – sleek and comfortable, incorporating a natural infusion of West Coast-casual and East Coast-polish. A mix of playful nautical elements and contemporary furnishings, keeping to a neutral color palatte, with small pops of bright color.

“These Bungalows are truly one of a kind,” said Bill Tremper, General Manager of Pacific Edge Hotel on Laguna Beach. “Being right on the beach, with easy access to the surf, we wanted to give each of the Bungalows their own edge. The sponsors did that magnificently, pouring their heart and soul into the project, with the end result of giving each Bungalow their own unique vibe.”

Located on prime beachfront property, literally feet from the surf, the Pacific Edge Hotel Bungalows delivers a priceless experience.
