2014 Kia Sorento – Stunning

The new 2014 has a ton of eye-appeal. What most people don’t realize is that Kia automobiles are designed by Peter Schreyer, who has been the Chief Design Officer at Kia Motors since 2006. A German automobile designer, Schreyer is widely known for his design contributions to the Audi. In 2006, Car Design News called the Audi TT one of “the most influential automotive design in recent time”. He has brought that to Kia. The 2014 Kia models are  head-turners.

The interior of the 2014 Kia Sorento immediately makes an impact, with a cabin lined with soft-feeling textiles and tasteful instances of metallic trim. They seats are now comparable to any luxury car – extremely comfortable!

Perhaps most noticeable is the voice-activated LCD touchscreen sitting in the middle of the dash. The interface combines controls for navigation, real-time traffic, Infinity audio, Sirius Radio, Bluetooth, and smartphone-based access to Google Maps as standard.

Additional options vary from model to model, but if you want a rearview camera, pushbutton start, a power tailgate, blind-spot monitors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 115-volt power outlet, both heating and cooling for the front seats, a panoramic sunroof which goes all the way to the backseat, or other items…just say the word!

The Safest of the Safe!

More important, the 2014 Kia Sorento has safety features galore, including curtain airbags — including a driver knee airbag and airbags across the roof! Also, the redesign incorporates the use of more high-strength steel, adding up to a stronger and lighter design. Take your pick of options, such as blind-spot detection system and parking sensors, to up the safety score. Though the 2014 Kia Sorento hasn’t yet been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, earlier models have scored well, and this newest edition is likely to continue the tradition.

Size is Everything

The 2014 Kia Sorento excels in two areas that will be important to anyone who regularly drives passengers. For starters, the V6 shoulders a full carload of people and cargo a lot better than the older models, and the handling of the Sorento itself has improved over the previous versions. The ride is much smoother, without jarring bumps or jostling on the road. Don’t expect to win any drag races in the 2014 Kia Sorento, but you’ll get to your destination in comfort and style.

Families will appreciate two features in particular. First of all, the 2014 Kia Sorento seats five adults comfortably, without skimping on headroom or legroom. There’s also plenty of cargo space for road trips, grocery shopping, or any other occasion when you need to move a lot of goods. You can opt for a seven-seat version of the 2014 Kia Sorento, but the third row of seats is best suited for children — not grown-ups.

Great on Gas!

Secondly, however many adults and/or children you want to transport, you’ll be pleased to learn that the 2014 Kia Sorento comes with a more fuel-efficient V6 engine, putting out 290 horsepower and 252 pound-feet of torque. A four-cylinder engine is also available, but few buyers will likely pick that option, as the V6 claims nearly the same gas mileage (about 18/25 mpg), but with a lot more power. The Sorento’s six-speed automatic transmission comes in either front-wheel- or all-wheel-drive systems.

Kia Has Earned Its Stellar Reputation

Since the company arrived in the United States, Kia has made its reputation as the maker of budget-friendly but feature-packed vehicles. Granted, these autos aren’t necessarily revolutionary, but they deliver what consumers want: attractive, functional, and reliable cars at the right price. The 2014 Kia Sorento fits right into this plan and ups the ante with a strong but economical V6 option, a smoother ride, good passenger space for five adults, and a deluxe entertainment package.
