The premiere of “A Trilogy of Recovery” brought out stars and supporters to the Writers Guild Theater to view a trio of films: “Bed Ridden,” “Men in a Box,” and “Plan B,” three fine chronicles of the struggles and triumphs faced by recovering addicts. Jonathan Heap and Lowell Cauffiel of Primary Purpose Productions directed these smart, authentic films, while Rika and Tony Broccoli handled production duties as part of The Dana and Albert Broccoli Charitable Fund, the financial backers of “Men in a Box” and “Plan B.”

Red-carpet arrivals included Skyler Stone (“Bed Ridden,” “Plan B,” as well as Fox’s “Raising Hope”), Tony Denison (“Major Crimes” on TNT), David Marciano (“Homeland” on Showtime), Madison Curtis (KarTV), Ralph Rieckermann (guitarist of The Scorpions), Eric West (“Gossip Girl” on the CW) and Owen Benjamin (“Sullivan & Son” on TBS). From the flash bulbs and photo lines, the celebs then made their way to the well-attended reception featuring delicious dishes by private chef Stacie Rauch of the Personal Palette.

In keeping with the films’ message of renewal, Primary Purpose Productions is a nonprofit based in Los Angeles with the goal of creating movies that will help people turn away and rebuild from drug and alcohol addiction, as well as other harmful habits, particularly in contrast to other Hollywood works that glamorize drug and chemical abuse. The films’ earnings will go to The Midnight Mission, dedicated to providing services to the homeless community, from offering 12-step recovery programs to counseling, education, training, and job placement to food, shelter, clothing, and medical care.
