Study: Glucomannan in Hypertensive Outpatients: Pilot Clinical Trial Supports: Weight Loss
In an additional study (Reffo), outpatients were divided into three groups:

Group 1 consumed 1 g of glucomannan one hour prior to each of three daily meals and followed no dietary restrictions; Group 2 followed the same regiment as the first group, but were told to adhere to a restricted calorie diet; Group 3 were treated with a placebo and no dietary restrictions. Results showed that the glucomannan group with no dietary restrictions lost a significant amount of weight (lost 3.08 lbs) while the glucomannan group on a restricted calorie diet lost even more weight (5.28 lbs). The placebo group did not lose a significant amount of weight.
