Smallville’s Supergirl Laura Vandervoort is asking, “Who’s skin are you in”? By appearing in her PETA ad as a majestic lizard basking in the sun, Laura reminds us how beautiful reptiles are in their natural habitats—and that that is where they belong. Laura is one of the many actresses that are using their clout to deliver a message to the world that it’s not ok to torture and abuse animals. She has joined PETA’s campaign urging consumers to leave wildlife out of their wardrobes and embrace faux instead.  Laura is a fixture in Maxim’s Hot 100 list, and you’ll be able to catch her in theaters in a number of upcoming films, including This Means War with Reese Witherspoon and Seth MacFarlane’s Ted. Listen to Laura Vandervoort as she explains what we didn’t know about the torturous practices these animals and others go through to fill a fashion demand.

Check out PETA’s Cruelty-Free Clothing Guide to help you make compassionate shopping choices. Popular retailers such as Victoria’s Secret, H&M, Overstock.com, Cole Haan, and Nike have all signed PETA’s pledge never to sell exotic skins.
