LA’s The Place is proud to partner with AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA) for the 27th Annual Aids Walk Los Angeles on Sunday, October 16, 2011.  This is the world’s first walk ever to fight the AIDS epidemic and California’s largest HIV/AIDS fundraising event. An expected 30,000 walkers, dozens of celebrities and elected officials will gather in West Hollywood Park to raise awareness and money for AIDS Project Los Angeles. NCIS’ Pauley

The 10k (6.2 mile) AIDS Walk Los Angeles route begins and ends in West Hollywood Park, and the crowd will take to the streets of West Hollywood and Los Angeles. Walk starts at 10 am, registration at 8:30 am on October 16, 2011.

Marking its 30th year since AIDS was first identified in the United States and for the 27th year that Los Angeles residents will again walk to end HIV/AIDS, 2011’s “I Walk” campaign is highly significant.

AIDS Walk Los Angeles is one of the biggest, most diverse, and highly anticipated annual events in Los Angeles. Last year, a passionate crowd of 30,000 walkers and 2,500 volunteers raised more than $2.8 million for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and advocacy programs. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $69 million to fight the disease in Los Angeles County, and the AIDS Walk movement has raised more than a half-billion nationwide.

It was founded in 1985 by Craig R. Miller and his organization of activists – MZA Events.
