Just in time for The Grove’s annual celebrations of holiday cheer, including festive snow, UGG® Australia held its Los Angeles store opening, complete with cocktails and celebrities on-hand. The event also benefited The Children’s Hospital of LA and was co-hosted by Vanity Fair Magazine. The Children’s Hospital of LA is one of eight children’s hospitals in the country and the only one on the West Coast.

The store officially opened on Nov. 24, but the celebration took place on Dec. 9 with guests and DJ Mathieu Schreyer.

Shenae Grimes of the CW’s “90210” lead the opening of the UGG Australia store and has worked with The Children’s Hospital of LA before.

“I just started going and visiting with the kids,” Grimes told LA’s The Place. “I just wanted to hang out with them and give them some laughs and good times and good company, since it can get pretty lonely. That’s my goal in all of this, and when they asked me to be part of tonight, I was very, very honored to even be considered or thought of – so any way I can help.”

Grimes is most well known for her role in the high school drama set in Beverly Hills, playing Annie Wilson, and she’s getting ready to be promoting her part in the upcoming “Scream 4.”

Right now, Grimes is shooting a movie called “Sugar” opposite Wes Studi (“Avatar”) and Marshall Allman (“True Blood”).

“[“Sugar”] is about homeless kids in Los Angeles,” Grimes explained. “So I’ve been volunteering at the shelter—any free time I have had.”

Also celebrating the UGG Australia brand were celebrities Anika Noni Rose (“For Colored Girls”), Abby Pivaronas (“Jonas LA”), Mekenna Melvin (“Chuck”), Michael Yo (“E! News”), Adrienne Maloof-Nassif (“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”), Amber Stevens (“Greek”) and Hasheem Thabeet (NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies).

UGG Australia began in 1978 with Brian Smith, a surfer from Australia who brought a bag of sheepskin boots to the U.S. and found a place for them in the California surfer world. Deckers Outdoor Corp. acquired the company in 1995, and now, UGG Australia is considered a luxury footwear brand.

With the opening of the Los Angeles location, there are 10 stores around the country, including three in New York City. This year, the company formed a boot specifically for its fifth honor on “Oprah’s Favorite Things” show: the Classic Sparkles, an allover sequin boot available in black, silver and gold. Also, a partnership with the NFL’s Tom Brady of the New England Patriots was recently announced.

The Grove location is found in area #F72, next to Michael Stars and Caruso Affiliated offices and adjacent to Barney’s Co-Op on Bow Street.

“The store interior follows the global theme using high quality finishes from zebra wood to frosted glass and a unique champagne metal finish,” designer Anthony Donnelly states in a press release. “The floor and ceiling will be made from natural oak and slate with custom built features to add interest to the product categories.”
