LA’s The Place recently sat down with musical artist Jane Carrey of The Jane Carrey Band at our studios in Los Angeles, with our host, Tamara Witmer. Jane talks about how her musical career came about, her first national tour, the joy of becoming a new mother to new son, Jackson, and much more! Jane is the daughter of actor Jim Carrey and wife of musician Alex Santana.
With a self-titled debut release that displays serious musical talent, their growing fan base and packed live performances, the Jane Carrey Band is certainly making a name for themselves.
With Jane Carrey as lead singer and guitarist, they have been receiving quite a bit of attention and press including an award of “2009 New Release Of The Year”.
The Jane Carrey Band
While Jane was attending the exclusive Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica for its jazz program, she met drummer Terry Goldberg and bassist Ian Sloane and the band was born.Terry still also plays in a jazz band, and he says his interests extend to rock, reggae, and even electronic music. Ian says of his input to the band, “I bring a funky, jazzy kind of vibe to the band that everybody else feeds off of”.
Also a part of the Jane Carrey Band is guitarist Daniel Sahagun, bassist Ian Sloane and drummer Terry Goldberg.
Music reviewer, Mike Canter of SonicJive.com, says of the Jane Carrey Band debut album, “It is rare for a debut CD to have so many appealing songs. For the better part of the disc the band is classically intoxicating and for the most part, irresistible. Five stars.”
