Hotel Shangri-La Debuts New $30 million Classic Makeover
Last week, the Hotel Shangri-La in Santa Monica hosted its premiere party celebrating the completion of a $30 million refurbishment. LA’s hottest and brightest were dazzled by the pristine, white exterior and exquisite architectural design as they sipped on cocktails and immersed themselves in the fabulous energy of this smashing event.

Sheila Conlin, CEO of The Conlin Company, with Stephanie Wagner, Executive-in-Charge and Chase Landau, Casting Producer. Conlin casts for some of the biggest reality shows on TV and is a producer.
Famous for the range of high profile guests that room within its walls, the Hotel Shangri-La at its luxurious launch made everyone in attendance feel like a celebrity, not to mention the number of real celebrities spotted at the party.
Just steps from the beach with amazing art decor, an atmosphere of opulence and tranquility was felt by all, leaving an indelible impression on the minds of guests as memorable night that would not be soon forgotten.
The Hotel Shangri-La first opened to the public in 1939, impressing visitors with its Streamline Moderne Architecture. Since that time, the hotel has been enjoyed by many people, from presidents to average joes, for its artistic beauty and convenient location.

Guests have the privilege of taking a stroll to the famous Santa Monica pier or hip 3rd street promenade, hopping in the car for a short but scenic drive along the coast to idyllic Malibu beaches, or perhaps exploring the nightlife in eccentric Hollywood. The options for entertainment are endless while staying at this lush hotel that serves as a gateway to all of LA’s greatest treasures.

Sex and The City's John Corbett relaxed in the sea breeze this night at the Shangri-la; with party guest Karyn Fitzpatrick.
The recent multi-million dollar refurbishment of the Hotel Shangri-La was the first renovation that the hotel had undergone in twenty years. While major elements of the hotel’s original design were preserved in the remodel, newer contemporary additions hope to bring the Hotel Shangri-La into the 21st century. May green applications have been incorporated. All 71 rooms with a gorgeous ocean view have been updated to include high speed internet connections, premium sound systems and more.
Those lucky enough to attend the Hotel Shangri-La’s launch party last Thursday night, June 18th, were able to witness the convergence of history and modernity in this newly renovated LA landmark that is now both contemporary and historic. With such an amazing first impression at its posh re-opening, one can only imagine how much more fabulous staying at the hotel as a guest would be. ‘LA’s the Place’ will be doing an indepth close-up editorial of Hotel Shangri-La. Look for the official review of Hotel Shangri-La this next month or go experience the extravagance yourself.
