Real Men Wear Plaid! Sean Connery and Friends Kick off Tartan Week with “Dressed to Kilt”
The Scots came out to celebrate Dressed to Kilt, the highest-profile Scottish event in the United States. The highly-anticipated event featured kilted gents and plaid-clad ladies strutting their stuff down the runway for an A-list of judges. Traditional kilts as well as fashion-forward garb are showcased in a lavish display of Scottish pride. Honorary Chairman Sir Sean Connery and his wife hosted the seventh annual Dressed to Kilt charity fashion show in New York City, which took place March 31, 2009.

This year’s proceeds from Dressed to Kilt benefitted the Wounded Warriors program and the Paralyzed Veterans of America through Friends of Scotland, a non-profit corporation dedicated to advancing contemporary Scottish interests in the United States.

Their mission is to be “the primary US organization promoting a contemporary view of modern Scotland by showcasing Scottish cultural, educational, historical and genealogical connections between the United States and Scotland”.
