Angelina Iyamah-Wilson, a Career Transition Coach in Los Angeles, Assists Others in Identifying their Expertise with The Bailiwick Group
Angelina Iyamah-Wilson became a Career Transition Coach and created The Bailiwick Group in Los Angeles after realizing she had a passion for helping others find employment. It started as a few tips here and there on creating the perfect resume but later blossomed into seminars and speaking engagements. Angelina developed her strengths while working as a Human Resource professional in the areas of recruitment, outplacement, and career development. Realizing that she had an area of expertise that could be used to impact her community, she spent more than a year developing a collaborative process that is now the crux of her practice. Combined with her infectious excitement for networking and career exploration, she encourages a holistic approach to identifying strengths and finding new opportunities. As a Career Transition Coach with The Bailiwick Group, she works with degreed professionals to develop the skills and competencies that will contribute to success in finding new career opportunities.
Angelina Iyamah-Wilson is qualified to use the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) process, and is proficient in the use of Strength Finders methodology. She attended Mount St. Mary’s College where she studied English Literature and recently completed an ICF accredited Career and Life coaching certification through iPEC Coaching (Institute for Professional Empowerment Coaching).
After an unexpected lay off from her most recent position at Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, she learned first hand the value of having support and a solid career plan. “I didn’t expect to be laid-off; I guess no one ever does.” Having high self-esteem is a quality Angelina deems as vitally important and believes that her role is to “help good people on the path to doing great things.” Her method as a Career Transition Coach is to understand where her clients are in their life journey and to meet her clients on their terms. Every client brings with them enough to begin with, and Angelina doesn’t feel she gives her clients anything that wasn’t there before she started working with them. Clients that lose their jobs are in a delicate state. Many commonly blame themselves or feel as though they could have done something to prevent it. “Even though it felt like I hit a complete fork in the road after losing my job at Deloitte, I was able to rebound, pick my self up and dust myself off because I know my value, passion and strengths.” Since everyone is good at something, she encourages her clients to concentrate and focus on the positive, focus on their value, passion and strengths.
Angelina Iyamah-Wilson Assists Others in Clearly Defining Goals and Realizing Their Full Potential
Originally from Canada, Angelina Iyamah-Wilson grew up in a multi-cultural family where she learned the importance and the benefits of diversity. Being exposed to so many different cultures, she learned at a very early age about passion and how it can be expressed in what ever you do. It was during this time that she realized her full potential, not because she knew what she wanted to be when she grew up (that wouldn’t come until years later) but because she learned the value of knowing what she enjoyed doing. Today, that has translated into not only helping others find work, but a process of empowering her clients in defining clear goals and realizing their full potential. The joy revealed by her clients comes from self accomplishment and the realization that what you do for money and what you do for fun can not only complement each other but they can sometimes even be the same thing.
The Bailiwick Group, “bailiwick” meaning “expertise”, helps clients understand that we all only know what we know. That means we don’t know, what we don’t know. Angelina work with her clients is to go beyond education, skills and training (the things we know) to uncover what makes one unique, and reveal what one is most passionate about. Angelina’s bailiwick is in knowing that we’re all on a journey, and that getting to our destination is easiest when we have a path.
If you are a degreed professional of any level with prior professional experience, and are in a career transition, you can enjoy Angelina’s passion for helping others in a free resource group she hosts. What would be gained by attending is support, tips on how to improve your resume, and the opportunity to learn from others who are also on a similar path. Instead of being isolated and feeling alone it’s extremely beneficial to get out there and network with others.
Angelina Iyamah-Wilson is married and lives in a historic part of Los Angeles. What is important to Angelina Iyamah-Wilson and her husband is greening their carbon footprint. Together they run a small business selling all natural body products, have a love of eco-travel and spend time traveling to new destinations every year.
