Veronica Diaz talks about Life in LA and the Hollywood Scene
LAsThePlace.com caught up with Argentinian-born actress Veronica Diaz, for our Spotlight on Actors feature which highlights the hottest up-and-comers in the business. This South American beauty is one of the few actresses in Hollywood who seem to work nonstop. With recent work on Nip/Tuck, Horror 88, The Chosen One and Jake in Progress, Veronica still has time to keep a balanced life while multi-tasking in the Hollywood limelight.
LATP: Since you are from Argentina, how has Hollywood responded to your exotic looks and fabulous accent?
Veronica Diaz: WOW! Thank you for that!!!
You know, at first it was a little difficult…. Because I don’t really fit the profile of the “Hispanic look” …. But things are changing; the world is opening up, expanding. I have a very unique look and I work really hard with wonderful teachers so I can be understood by audiences. Now I am comfortable in my skin I love that I am unique and I love how I sound. It took me a while to get there. At the end of the night is all about the performance, is all about the talent and the hard work.
LATP: Since your father was an actor, did he help train you early on or did you have formal training?
Veronica Diaz: Both… I used to help my dad with lines when I was a kid, by helping him I got to play great ladies at very young age…..unforgettable, magical magical times…. And yes I’ve always studied, the more knowledge, the more tools, the more confident I am as an actress. I love being prepared.

LATP: Are you concentrating just on your acting career or are you working on projects that include your dance and music talent?
Veronica Diaz: Right now is all about acting! …But who knows, maybe I’ll be playing a role that dances and sings in a film.
LATP: Since you have been in the United States, has the film industry evolved in your homeland and do you see yourself going back to Argentina to do acting?
Veronica Diaz: Argentina is finally getting the recognition that deserves. We’ve always had GREAT actors and great films. Now with Copolla opening a production company in Buenos Aires and so many productions from Europe and USA working there, we are becoming one of the places to be. I know I will be working in Argentina soon.
LATP: What are some of the challenges you have encountered in Hollywood coming from another country?
Veronica Diaz: To make sure I stay true to myself, be my own counsel, select my own decisions, knowing that is only a matter of time.
LATP: You have a very impressive resume; do you have a preference between television, commercials or theatre?
Veronica Diaz: I love Film and Television …. I love being on set, is very magical… I love to breathe cinema, creating with other actors and directors … Is phenomenal…

LATP: Who is your current representation?
Veronica Diaz: Two wonderful hard working, strong beings, Norma Castillo from In Management and Sharon Kemp from Sharon Kemp Talent agency.
LATP: What has been your favorite performance of your career?
Veronica Diaz: Those performances are about to happen
LATP: What are your future plans and have you considered Los Angeles your home?
Veronica Diaz: Los Angeles is home… I am planning on working in Spain, Argentina and Italy, but Los Angeles es mi casa.

LATP: Your dance skills seem quite extensive, how does your Capoeira compare to the Brazilian practitioners?
Veronica Diaz: I dance Capoeira! But when you are in Brazil and watch the real dancers dancing Capoeira WOW absolutely amazing!
