14th Annual Palm Springs International ShortFest & Short Film Market
The 14th Annual Palm Springs International ShortFest & Short Film Market will be held at the Camelot Theatres from August 21 – 27, 2008.
As the largest short film festival and market in North America, the Festival will have something for everyone as they screen over 350 short films from over 40 countries. In addition, a Film Market facility will be open to filmmakers, press and industry which will feature more than 2,200 short films.
Over the past thirteen years, 58 of the short films that have been nominated for Academy Awards were screened at the festival before receiving their prestigious nominations, including five of this year’s nominees.
Twenty awards in six categories are offered in the festival, and each film that has been submitted is also eligible for participation in the film market. In addition, there is also a special section with awards for student films
The films winning awards in the Live Action and Animation categories are automatically qualified for nomination consideration by AMPAS in the short film categories.
