Shane SparksIn the 90s, Shane Sparks set out on a journey from his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio to Los Angeles, California seeking his dream of becoming a well-respected, famed choreographer. It took hard work and dedication, yet the momentum of his career went into warp speed. Over the last three years, Shane has worked on several important industry projects such as the feature film "You Got Served" and Fox’s hit TV show, "So You Think You Can Dance," elevating his career to the next level. Now you can see Sparks starring in the hot new MTV series executive produced by American Idol judge Randy Jackson, "Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew."

This highly-anticipated TV show is the first of its kind– showing off the best dance crews in America, and letting viewers decide who stays, and who goes from week to week. Along with Shane, JC Chasez (N’Sync) will be judging the crews, and Mario Lopez (Dancing with the Stars) will be hosting the show.

LA’s The Place got together with Mr. Sparks to ask some burning questions about the new show.

LATP: What is the best part about working on America’s Best Dance Crew?

SS: Hands down, the best part is being able to bring the streets to mainstream. I love seeing the hunger of the young and driven up close and personal!

LATP: Do you know Randy Jackson well?

SS: I’m getting to know him better and better everyday… he’s great, very genuine.

LATP: How did you end up being a judge on the show?

SS: Well I’ve been a part of this show – before it became a TV show. This dance crew competition has been successful for five years now. Randy [Jackson] just took it to the next level; he’s the man for that! [Laughs.]

LATP: Who is your favorite crew on the show?

SS: It varies. Jabawakeez are my fave, then Kaba Modern, then Status Quo. Those groups are dangerous!

LATP: Will you be doing So You Think You Can Dance this year, too?

SS: Nope, unfortunately not this season because the schedules conflicted, but we will see what the future holds!

LATP: What are people saying about the show?

SS: From what I see and hear, people love it! Everywhere I go, they stop and say this is by far the best dance show ever!
