My girl is over seas again this year with the military and I hate not having her here to share valentines day with because I feel that's feburary 14th is my day to show her how much she means to me. So this year I have came up with a plan to show her how much I care and to help with some of the "homesickness" that the military causes. Do you remember those gum ball machines that you can find down at the local grocery store? You know, the ones with the crummy toys inside the plastic capsules or stickers/necklaces for a quarter? Well I bought a gum ball machine and what I did was replace all the crummy toys with memories from all her friends and family. They're memories from her old college room-mate, neighbors..you name it, and even memories from some our special "dates" This way when ever my baby gets down and out all she has to do is pop in a quarter and she'll get to re-live some memory that she may have forgotten...maybe this will bring a smile to her face, I know I had a blast doing this idea ~ and I can't wait to ask her to marry me....

anywho, I hope you liked my story.

I would say after many years of being in a relationship, mine, even though
it sounds corny, keeps getting sweeter. Perhaps there are no longer hours of
making goo goo eyes at each other, and sometimes romance comes in the form
of not stealing the covers in bed, but now even the most mundane things we
do for each other are the most romantic. This year my hubby made not so
unconspicous attempts at finding out what I might want and I, being caught
up in work and life, just didn't seem to have my mind on the whole
valentines "thang".
So the morning of I am awakened to the sound of banging around in the
kitchen with the occasional expetive thrown around under his breath, low and
behold, my husband..cooking...breakfast...for me?!
I continued to lie in bed so as to not spoil the "surprize", though the
smell of burned bacon may have given him away anyway. Then my husband came
in to the bedroom, tray and all, with seriously the most perfect breakfast I
have ever had. Ahhh! The best part was being able to spend some quiet time
together chatting about nothing in particular and that, for me, was the best
gift he could have given me. The great sex later wasn't bad either. ;)

I had known, my now, husband for about 6-7 years at this point. He has asked me out many times, but this time when he asked me out for Valentines I said "yes". He showed up with a dozen roses and a card, he took me to a the place where we had first met and we shared our first kiss. It was the most romantic night of my life. I found out later that he had thought about me often and hoped someday that we would become a couple. Well since that Valentines night we have been together. We are now married and look forward to spending our life together.

This Valentine's Day, my boyfriend said that he couldn't meet up with me until dinner time because he was working. We've never been too big on the whole "Hallmark holiday," gift giving thing, though we do like to surprise each other with things from time to time, so I wasn't expecting anything too extravagant. My day had been horrible at work - very busy and lots of things to do. Mid-afternoon, I was at my desk working away, when someone walked up behind me and made a "kissing" noise. I turned around to see my boyfriend standing there with a vase of roses that had a little teddy bear and "I love you" heart wrapped around it, and a big bag of peanut butter M&Ms (my favorite!). No one had ever given me flowers, let alone surprise me with them! We rounded out the night with dinner where we had our first date. It was the sweetest Valentine's Day ever.

The first time I ever fell in love, it was on Valentine's Day. I was 17, with a boy I'd been dating for a few weeks and we drove down to walk on the boardwalk in San Diego. He had very little money, but he bought me an ice cream cone and we were high-spirited and jumping around teasing each other. Then, out of nowhere, he pushed his ice cream cone onto my nose, and suddenly we were in an ice cream fight! In that moment, I found someone who I could share my youth with, and have fun with, who didn't treat me like a breakable object... and in one second, I was head over heels in love.

My old boyfreind was never one for romance or buying gifts so because of that I wasn't expecting to do anything special for Valentines Day. I treated it like any other day. I got up went to work and when I came home I saw the lights were dim and the dining table set for two. He left early from work to come home and prepare what was the most romantic dinner I've ever had. It was complete with candlelight, flowers, a gold bracelet and a beautiful card expressng his love and appreciation for me.

My first valentine's day was my SECOND visit with my husband after years of being apart during my first marriage. He surprised me with a GORGEOUS engagement ring, a declaration of his love, and a group of friends waiting in back for an official handfasting. I was moved to tears. We've been together for four years, now!!!

My most memorable Valentine's was in 2007...My son had been born that Oct. before, and I was feeling anything but sexy! My husband surprised me with a Spa-Day full of a massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, and lunch! It was such a relaxing day and I felt SO rejuvenated afterwards! It was so thoughtful that my husband arranged some "Me" time for me...I would have never done that for myself, and he knew that! It was just what my "New Mommy" self needed!

My sweetie surprised me so wonderfully. He was out of town, and was going to be gone for 2 weeks on a work assignment. He sent me flowers on Valentines Day, but then I heard a knock at my door early in the evening, and it was him. He flew home just to spend Valentines day with me, took me out to a beautiful dinner at the BelAir Hotel, which he made reservations for days earlier and we had one of the most romantic nights of our 2 year relationship. Then he flew back to his job this morning! I love him more than ever!
