Catholic Girl's Guide to Losing Your VirginityThe Pico Playhouse is putting up Annie Hendy’s The Catholic Girl’s Guide to Losing Your Virginity beginning January 11th. Directed by Eli Gonda, hot off of associate directing the critically acclaimed Broadway production of Cyrano de Bergerac, this eight-week show will run through March 1st. 

Filled with fantasy, romance and sexual awakening, The Catholic Girl’s Guide to Losing Your Virginity centers on Lizzy, a Midwestern woman who sets out to lose her virginity before she turns 25. Realizing her priest has a better sex life than she does, Lizzy goes everywhere from Vegas to church mixers searching for her first.

The creative team features scenic design by Tom Buderwitz (2007 Ovation Award Winner for Paradise Lost), lighting design by Michael Gilliam (2007 Ovation Award Winner for Gershwin Alone, Big River), and costume design by Cynthia Obsenares (2006 Drama critics nom. Bach at Leipzig).

Director Eli Gonda has served as David Leveaux’s associate on the Broadway and West End productions of Cyrano, Sinatra! Live at the Palladium, The Glass Menagerie, Fiddler on the Roof, and Nine; and Jack O’Brien’s assistant on Henry IV, His Girl Friday (RNT), and Imaginary Friends.

The Producers of the production are Ryan Scott Warren for QuasiWorld Entertainment and Will Willoughby (Rose Alley Theatre’s revivals of Summer Tree and Robert Patrick’s Michelangelo’s Models), in association with The Pico Playhouse.

Starring Annie Hendy and Cyrus Alexander, The Catholic Girl’s Guide to Losing Your Virginity can be seen Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm. Tickets are $20 and $17.50 on Thursday nights.
