Ahh, Halloween. A holiday that for kids means playing dress-up, trick-or-treat, and piles of candy. But as an adult, the Tricks are the treat, and clubs across town fill to the brim with the sweetest eye candy – all dressed up and good enough to eat. Sexy costumes are the thing, and hotties in the know get their eye-popping outfits from Forplay, a young, hip company that turns out a new set of sexy designs every year.
In a pre-Halloween bash at Boulevard 3, Forplay unveiled several selections from their 2007 line of Sexy Costumes. Sponsored by Han Vodka and hosted by Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, the event transformed one of L.A.’s hottest clubs into a fashion show, complete with a catwalk, a dazzling array of hot models, and popping flashbulbs. Only rather than the latest fashions from Paris and Milan up on the stage, the theme could better be described as Costume Couture.
The possibilities are really quite endless, as Forplay specializes in taking even the least provocative professions and sexing them up. Take the NASCAR Driver. In reality, a NASCAR driver wears a full flame-retardant jumpsuit (replete with helmet) in order to protect him or herself from the potentially skin-scorching results of a fiery crash. The Sexy Racecar Driver, on the other hand, flagrantly disregards her personal safety by amending the standard jumpsuit to a navy blue skin-tight one-piece that not only leaves an ample amount of leg completely unprotected, but also zips dangerously far down the length of the front. It’s cinched in place by an imposing belt that would be more at home in the panty drawer of a dominatrix than a NASCAR equipment bag. A pair of knuckle-and-fingerless leather gloves and a set of goggles strapped gently atop the forehead complete the effect.
Another wildly popular theme for sexified apparel is law enforcement. The professional garb for men and women in this line of work is deliberately bland, and literally defines the word “uniform.” Forplay’s selection of Sexy Police Costumes takes that notion and unbuttons it almost completely, replacing rigid authority with a sense of playful possibility. In the Officer Naughty costume, the clunky straight-leg pants of your typical officer of the law are replaced by a short dress that showcases the chassis as well as the headlights. White gloves and a black police officer’s hat are there to remind you who’s boss, and if you forget, there are several instruments with which you will be easily reminded – starting with the whistle, then the baton (also appropriately named a “nightstick,” and as a last resort, handcuffs. But who in their right mind would resist a lady in uniform when she tells you to get up against the wall and spread ‘em?
Pirates are back in a huge way, and this year’s selection of Pirate costumes reflects the modern-day incarnation of Pirate Chic. Forplay has several options to choose from, each of which feature bustling corsets, leggings and lace, loosely draped jewelry, and, of course, the trademarrrk hats. A pair of jet-black 5” block heel boots help to tie it all together. At the polar opposite end of the moral spectrum is the Naughty Nun, a deliciously sacrilegious twist on the classic attire worn by only the holiest of holies. In an apparent effort to keep the wearer from being struck by lightning, there is no plunging neckline, and there are only three visible crosses on the slinky little number. Their design is a tad more Gothic than overtly religious, but there’s no mistaking the headpiece.
Even a traditionalist can find something in the wide variety of the all-time classics. From the Squeaky Clean French Maid to the Sexy Schoolgirl, the Flaming Firefigher to the Horny Devil, even animal themes like the Bad Kitty and Sweet as Honey Bee, Forplay has got it all covered – or shall I say uncovered? So get yourself into one of these sexy costumes – you might just end up using it all year long.
