Scuffd Up! Dance Troop Introduces Tap To Hendrix-Finally
Double Bass Productions and Mike Wittmers present a new artistic fusion of tap and rock proving that tap dance is no longer simply a nostalgic relic from the past or a hobby old Broadway fans.
Danced to the beats of rock classics such as Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, John Mayer, Stevie Rae Vaughn and many more, Scuffd Up! brings a new look, and surely the beginnings of a trend soon to explode, onto the dance scene.
Backed by a rock and blues band and including a guest performance by Michelle Owens, lead singer from the band LadyFOX, this production offers new potential both for rock music and tap dance.
Performing at the Hollywood nightclub, The Gig, Scuffd Up! does not disappoint. Complete with a boast worthy cast of four phenomenal and recently renowned dancers from Canada and the US, the show is comprised of choreography from classic to contemporary to entirely original, including an a cappella piece choreographed by one of the dancers.
Mike Wittmers works as the director, primary choreography, producer and performer on this project and his efforts show. Even when introducing each piece and dancer his passion and excitement is clear. He has transformed a genre of dance that for so long has been viewed strictly as an element of Broadway or a relic from the flapper days.
Whether you are an old tap fan, a dance connoisseur or just love some Zeppelin check this troop out. You’ll find what you’re looking for.
