“Green” Celebrities Honored at the Environmental Media Association Awards

Norman Lear and Frances FisherCreative, earth friendly artists behind today’s top television, film and music mediums were honored at the 17th Annual Environmental Media Association Awards Ceremony.  Held at the Ebell Club of Los Angeles on October 24th, the awards celebrated those that bring awareness of environmental issues to the public.  Selected by a panel of judges made up of leaders in the entertainment and environmental communities, the ceremony will be televised on November 7th on E! Entertainment Television.

 

Hosted by Joel McHale, of E!’s The Soup, the event honored several environmentalists in the entertainment community. Trudie Styler received the EMA Board of Directors Lifetime Achievement Award, actress Sienna Miller was given the Futures Award, Al Gore and Kevin Wall were honored with the Outstanding Achievement Award for their work on Live Earth and the band Incubus received the Missions in Music Award presented by Pepsi.

The Environmental Media Association Awards 

The awards also honored several television shows and films for their environmental awareness efforts.  Happy Feet won the Feature Film category, My Name is Earl was given the award in the Television Episodic Comedy category, NUMB3RS won in the Television Episodic Dramatic category, Living with Ed was given the award in the Reality Program category, Bindi the Jungle Girl won in the Children’s Live Action category, Big Ideas for a Small Planet "Wear" won for the Documentary Category and Scrubs received the Turner Award for bringing awareness to population growth.

Other green minded celebrities in attendance included, Norman Lear, Sting, Rosario Dawson, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, DJ AM, Blythe Danner, Henry Simmons, Balthazar Getty, Guilana Rancic, Ana Ortiz, Zachary Quinto, Paul Haggis, Natasha Henstridge, Debbie Mattenopoulos, Wendie Malick, Amber Tamblyn, Emily Deschanel, Sal Masekela, Niecy Nash, Natasha Henstridge, Ed Begley Jr., Monique Coleman, Kathryn Morris, Gerard Butler, Henry Simmons, Crista B. Allen and Constance Zimmer.
