Maria Shriver Tells Fitness Magazine How She Stays Peaceful

In the month of November, Fitness Magazine is featuring a woman who comes by her knowledge of life and politics by nature. A member of America’s powerful royal family, a former news anchor and California’s First Lady, Maria Shriver.
Maria shares her wisdom and her ten steps to a healthy mind, body and soul with Fitness magazine’s Caroline Hwang.
Here are a few teasers from Maria’s ten steps:
Use your fear
Maria Shriver: “Do something that scares you every day, as Eleanor Roosevelt suggested. Fear gives us wisdom. It makes us work harder than we imagined we could.”
Share your ideas
Maria Shriver: “Jot down in a journal one moment a day in which you felt powerful. Share thoughts and ideas at californiawomen.org/forum/. The idea: We can all learn from each other.”
Help others
Maria Shriver: “Serve your community at least once a year. Build a playground, tutor a child, or deliver food to a home-bound senior citizen. I know that helping others makes me feel better about myself and my purpose in life.”
Stay inspired
Maria Shriver: “Keep a record of tips and inspirational quotations that you can refer to each day. One of my favorite quotes, which I have on a t-shirt: ‘Well-behaved women rarely make history.’”
