* IPL
Reaching the first layer of the skin, IPL is a pulsed light system that is exceptionally effective for treating skin redness (Rosacea), brown spots and sun damage at a very comfortable energy level. There is no need to apply topical anesthetic or gel before hand, and remarkable results are seen in just one to two treatments.
* Laser Genesis
Going deeper than IPL, Laser Genesis is a non-ablative procedure that promotes healthy looking skin by reducing redness and pore size and improves skin tone and texture through a gentle warming of the skin. With no recuperation time required, this procedure is perfect for people with acne, as it kills bad bacteria that cause acne in the dermal layer.
* Titan
With direct contact to the skin, Titan goes even deeper as it warms the dermis to create collagen tightening. For anyone aged 30-60 years old who doesn’t want to go under the knife, this procedure attacks loose skin to rejuvenate one’s look, as it firms up the skin and brings up sagging jowels. Featured on Oprah, this procedure has been referred to as the "Lunch Time Face Lift."
As a first time spa goer, I was a little apprehensive going into Sunrise for the first time. Not knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised by the unpretentious atmosphere I experienced walking in and talking with the accommodating staff. The procedures were completely foreign to me, but once situated, I was comfortable and more than pleased by the treatments’ effects.
Silk Peel
When I went in for my first session, my esthetician Tanya was friendly, informative and walked me through everything step by step. Used for treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, superficial scars, uneven skin tones, acne and acne scarring, the Silk Peel Microdermabrasion gently and precisely exfoliates the surface of the skin. Recommended over a course of several treatments, the Silk Peel can be performed on men and women of any ethnicity, skin tone or textures.
Tanya first explained that a Silk Peel isn’t like a typical peel at all. In fact it’s like a little vacuum sucking up toxins and bacteria in the skin. Tanya likened it to the feel of a cat’s tongue licking my face-and that’s exactly what it felt like.
With each treatment the intensity increased going deeper and deeper into my skin. While it felt like a bigger, rougher cat each time, it sucked out more and more of my toxins, leaving me with a better complexion. I was left with only a slight redness, and much smoother and fresher looking skin.
Laser Genesis
The next step in my treatment included Laser Genesis. During my first session, I was a little unnerved. Jennifer, who performed the procedure, placed cotton pads over my eyes along with goggles, like ones used in tanning salons, for my protection. Unable to see what was going on, it felt like Jennifer was holding a very large heat lamp an inch from my face. It was disconcerting at first, and I felt a little claustrophobic, but that uneasiness subsided within minutes.
While it may feel massive in size, the laser is actually a small red dot coming out of a laser pen type tool. As the laser moved over my face, it felt like drops of water were falling on my skin. Over the 20-30 minute procedure, Jennifer made sure to stop every few minutes to make sure I was alright and let me open my eyes every once in a while to reduce my anxiety. By my last treatment I was so comfortable that I almost fell asleep during the procedure.
Results
I came in for a series of three Silk Peel and Laser Genesis treatments. I noticed slight improvements in smoothness and minimizing of blemishes after my first appointment, but after not seeing any difference from my second session, I wondered if my skin would benefit overall from the treatments. The day after my third time in, my doubts were eased, as there was a noticeable difference in my skin. Looking smooth, clear and bright, I was the happiest I’ve been with my complexion in a long time.
