Oscar buzz! This season the look is all about metallic sparkles, loads of lashes and smokey, defined eyes! With the emphasis on super sexy eyes, the makeup balance is soft, dewy cheeks and glossy, clear lips in pale tones.
The new metallics are exciting and flirty. Gun metal grays, silvers and plumy grays are amazing for almost all eye colors and they’re especially wonderful on the amber-brown eyes of singer Jessica Simpson and Grey’s Anatomy’s Katherine Heigl. Eva Longoria looks incredible in these colors, with pale pink lips and cheeks that put the focus on those eyes! This look is perfect for Courtney Cox and Jennifer Connelly’s gorgeous steely blues! Look for dazzling eyes, rimmed on the inner bottom lid in black and charcoal kohl liners. White/silver eyeshadow along the outer corner of the eyelid closest to the nose bridge widens the eye and brings added sparkle to the overall look. It’s a little trick that makes Hollywood’s best-of-the-best look sexy and innocent all at the same time. On Oscar night, it’s back to classic, Hollywood glamour.
We should expect to see more long wavy hairstyles either rolled into an upsweep or casually down below the shoulders that perfectly compliments, and romantically softens the slightly edgy, dramatic makeup. Wavy, center parted bangs frame the face, while thin, double-row head bands push back bangs in a classic Grecian style. Either way, the look is stunning.
Jewelry will show up as smaller earrings (the enormous chandeliers of the last few years will be slightly more subdued) but look for big, gorgeous rings, and sexy cuff bracelets.
This year’s female nominees for Best Actress are: Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, Meryl Streep, Kate Winslet, and Penelope Cruz. Each star has her own unique style and beauty, but I’m personally hoping for something cutting edge from Meryl Streep to go along with her role in The Devil Wears Prada! Penelope Cruz will be pure glamour as always, and Kate Winslet’s soft, romantic beauty will shine.
