Maggie Gyllenhaal at Borders Books for Signing of Sherrybaby DVD
Critically acclaimed actress Maggie Gyllenhaal will be on hand January 24, 2007 to sign copies of her newly released DVD Sherrybaby. Heralded as Gyllenhaal’s finest role since Secretary, her portrayal of a recovering drug addict trying to pick up the pieces of her life garnered the actress a Golden Globe nomination.
Written and directed by Laurie Collyer, the film illustrates how Sherry struggles to stay clean while trying to reclaim the daughter she lost along the way. Throughout her journey, Gyllenhaal depicts this character as a desperate but determined woman who is forced to commit shocking and perilous acts to straighten out her life.
During this unflinching look at one woman’s pursuit to stay clean, Sherry encounters an eclectic mix of characters most notably portrayed by Brad Henke (Dexter), Kate Burton (Grey’s Anatomy) and Sam Bottoms (Shopgirl).
Copies of the Sherrybaby DVD go on sale January 23, 2007 for $27.98.
