Something Wicked This Way Comes…
Beginning February 9, 2007, the smash Broadway musical Wicked, will be laying roots at the Pantages Theatre. In celebration, Universal City Walk celebrated with a day of Wicked fun on Oct. 30, 2006.
Composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz, author Winnie Holzman and producers Marc Platt and David Stone were on hand for a Wicked costume contest, face painting, a singing contest, games, and live musical performances by the cast, which were announced that day.
Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked gives the Wizard of Oz an untraditional spin by telling how the Wicked Witch of the West got to be so wicked. Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
Tickets will be on sale from $25 to $88 and are available on http://www.broadwayla.org/ or by phone at (213) 365-3500.
