At the press conference, Jeremy McGrath spoke on the upcoming “Jeremy McGrath Invitational”. “We’re excited about this event, it’s been a long time in the making” said Jeremy. It’s been an idea of mine since I was a little kid, some type of a big track, a litte bit unique”.
I’d say unique. Taking place October 6th and 7th at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, this first-ever Supercross-style race showcased unique head-to-head race action, never-before-seen track designs and th largest purse ever offered in the sport of Supercross racing – $500,000. “I’m looking forward to just being paired up with some of these guys in the head-to-head races”. The sport of Supercross has become big business, but what I think the sport is missing is comradarie between riders”. He said this event will enable the guys to ride, finish riding, hang out with the other guys and be available to the fans in the seats. “That’s the idea we had, to bring it all together and have a little fun”. Amp’d Mobile, the first integrated mobile entertainment company for youth, young professionals and early adopters, was one of the Presenting Sponsors for the 2006 inaugural Supercross-style race event. Amp’d Mobile’s Adrian Hunter added, “The overall concept of the Jeremy McGrath Invitational is innovative, unique and breaks new ground ideologies which fall perfectly in sync with Amp’d Mobile’s corporate philosophy. We immediately wanted to be involved.”
The Jeremy McGrath Invitational is produced in association with Wasserman Media Group and is presented by American Honda and Amp?d Mobile and sponsored by Dunlop Tires, Kicker Audio Systems, Spy Optics, Pro Taper, Motorcycle Mechanics Institute and DC Shoes.
Event coverage will air on NBC on Sunday, October 22nd – post a Nextel Cup NASCAR race. Be sure to watch as there are surprises, shocks, and some of the most amazing riding ever.
